Background & History

The Ita Civilization colonized the Solar System after Human Civilization reached Level 2. The two systems are a little over ten light-years apart, making the journey economically viable for a Level 2 civilization and allowing the Solar System to become an Ita sphere of influence 243.

Publicly, the Ita claimed to have arrived to guide humanity's revival and eventual integration into the Galactic Intelligent Life Alliance. Their doctrine demanded that humans submit completely, abandon resistance, and accept Ita-led social transformation 62 77. In practice, their rule combined ideological control, privileged administration, and extraction of human resources; much of the wealth taken from humanity supported Ita public services, infrastructure, education, and welfare 1 276.

The central purpose behind their exploitation was the Pluto Great Development Strategy. Black Jade Mine, extracted from cold dwarf planets through human labor, was essential for shielding equipment needed to contain the Electric Calamity threatening Ita Star 173 243.

As human resistance expanded, the Ita responded with Guard crackdowns, weapon-source investigations, and increasingly severe restrictions on private spacecraft and high-tech supplies 149 202. Their military advantage was initially overwhelming, but Han Yang's clandestine arms network, industrial production, and automated warfare gradually enabled the resistance to challenge their control 192 201 220.

The Ita lost Neptune and then suffered a decisive defeat around Triton, where five Ita Battleships and 176 Guard Ships surrendered to the Blue Army while other resisting vessels were destroyed 235. Faced with the collapse of their position in the Solar System, they began evacuating their population and scientists aboard Ita and human wealthy fleets 239.

Han Yang exploited the evacuation to take custody of 500,000 Ita scientists, then turned on the fleeing Ita leadership. After returning to the Solar System, he confined the captives on Europa, executed officials and other non-scientists implicated in crimes against humanity, and extracted scientific and political intelligence through mass interrogations 239 242. Later, he captured roughly 11 million Ita alongside the Yuanshan envoy fleet; most captives were executed, while scientists and engineers were retained for their expertise 260 261.

Human Civilization subsequently launched an expedition to the Ita Star System. After losing Planet Five and enduring decades of attritional war, the Ita withdrew from its siege and focused on defending its remaining worlds 269 272. Their later attempt to secure Yuanshan Alliance intervention failed when Human Civilization presented evidence tying Ita prosperity to centuries of human exploitation 276. The Alliance accepted Human Civilization as a member and rejected the Ita demand for retribution 277.

Appearance

Ita observed in the Solar System are tall and extremely thin, commonly wearing lightweight silver-white full-body spacesuits made from an unidentified material 40.
