They occasionally passed by a few taverns, with quite a few armed adventurers coming and going.
There were no wonders like sky islands, world trees, or ten-thousand-meter waterfalls after all. Once the initial novelty wore off, there was nothing left to look forward to.
Aside from Babel Tower in the distance, it was far less magnificent than modern architecture.
"What do you think of this city?"
Meitellia looked at Ming Ge curiously.
Ming Ge was unfamiliar with the surrounding streets, yet he did not seem particularly surprised by the city.
If Ming Ge truly came from some remote place, he should not have reacted like this.
Curious. Meitellia was growing more and more curious about Ming Ge.
"It's fine. Very novel."
Ming Ge answered casually.
With so many people around them, Ming Ge had to make sure Meitellia was not bumped into by anyone, so he was especially careful.
Seeing this, Meitellia felt a warmth bloom within her. With a playful smile, she wrapped her arms around Ming Ge's.
He could feel his body tremble slightly. Meeting Ming Ge's gaze, Meitellia put on an innocent expression. "Be careful. Don't get separated."
Though she left some space between them and did not press her warm chest against him, the two looked like lovers at that moment.
Thinking of that, then seeing Ming Ge's eyes, Meitellia's face could not help flushing. She loosened her hold on him slightly.
But the next moment, she felt Ming Ge take her hand and interlace their fingers.
"Don't get separated."
Imitating Meitellia's earlier words, Ming Ge chuckled gently.
It felt completely different from before. Holding hands with their fingers intertwined on the street... it was as though they were being surrounded by everyone's blessings.
Meitellia's face turned bright red, but she did not pull her hand away. Instead, she lowered her head and moved much closer to Ming Ge.
The two strolled slowly down the street. Though neither spoke, it was not awkward.
Warmth passed between their palms; silence spoke louder than words.
"Huh, have we already made it here?"
Meitellia suddenly stopped and looked ahead.
Following her gaze, Ming Ge saw a small stall.
Were those... fried potato balls?
Ming Ge froze for a moment.
"Fried potato balls. They're one of my favorite snacks."
Meitellia gave him an adorable smile.
She pulled Ming Ge over and ordered two portions. To pay, they had to let go of each other's hands.
At that moment, both Ming Ge and Meitellia felt a pang of disappointment.
They instinctively looked at each other, froze for a moment, then burst out laughing at the same time.
That probably meant they already had quite a tacit understanding between them.
Ming Ge thought.
Once Meitellia had bought the fried potato balls, the two continued down the road side by side.
When Ming Ge felt the back of Meitellia's hand brush against his, he understood and took her hand again.
Meitellia did not reply or even look at him. Her face was simply flushed red.
She carefully took a bite of a fried potato ball. She looked so elegant and adorable that Ming Ge's heart melted.
"How is it?"
Meitellia smiled at Ming Ge and urged, "Hurry and see how it tastes."
"It tastes very good."
Ming Ge took a bite. It was not greasy at all, and it really did taste excellent.
"Miss Meitellia... is that really Miss Meitellia?"
After they had wandered around for a while, a man's voice came from the side.
They turned to look. It was a young man with red eyes. He looked at them with disbelief in his eyes, along with undisguised dejection.
One of Meitellia's admirers?
Chapter 5: A Confession of Love
The young man's smile was rather shy, a different style from the girl's gentleness.
He looked somewhat young. Though he stared directly at Meitellia, there was nothing filthy in his gaze.
It was only natural for a girl like Meitellia to have admirers.
And he himself was a handsome man who had fallen from the sky, winning right from the starting line.
Now that was something else.
"Mr. Kroni, it's been a long time."
Meitellia smiled gently. "You're not wearing your equipment... are you out for a walk?"
She seemed to have a favorable impression of the young man, but her gentleness was the kind she showed everyone. Only when she was with Ming Ge was it different.
They were holding hands now, and they had not let go even after running into someone they knew. Things were basically settled.
"Ah, I'm just wandering around..."
The young man called Kroni scratched his head, then seemingly casually asked, "And this is...?"
"This is Ming Ge, my friend."
