Background / History

Xiao Ming was originally a fan of Battle Through the Heavens from another world. He transmigrated into the body of a low-status back-courtyard servant of the Xiao Clan in Wu Tan City, then awakened after falling from a mountain cliff. Little Peach and her mother sheltered and nursed him, giving him a sense of warmth and belonging he had lacked in both lives. 1 2 5

Upon awakening, Xiao Ming unlocked a system and chose Eternal Life as his exclusive starting skill. The choice granted him the Eternal Spear, later called Gungnir, and introduced him to Ya Fei, the system’s customer-service AI. 1

After Black Demon Stockade bandits harassed Little Peach and her mother, Xiao Ming defeated their men, pursued them to the stockade, and seized control as its new chief. He brought Little Peach and her mother under the stockade’s protection, demanded loyalty from the bandits, and began reshaping the force into a more disciplined organization. 2 4 5 8

Xiao Ming expanded Black Demon Stockade, saved trafficked children, and traced their enslavement to the Jia Lie Clan. He marched more than 800 men toward Wu Tan City, returned to the Xiao Clan without hostility, and fought alongside Xiao Zhan when the Jia Lie and Ao Ba clans attempted to block his entry. His forces breached Wu Tan City’s defensive formation and helped defeat the allied clans. 10 11 12 14 17 18

After discovering that Yun Xi was Yun Ling’s grandson, Xiao Ming recognized the danger posed by the Misty Cloud Sect. He persuaded Xiao Zhan to evacuate the Xiao Clan and Black Demon Stockade from Wu Tan City, then killed Ao Bapa and Yun Xi while arranging a false account of the prisoners’ disappearance. 20 21 22 24 25

To strengthen himself against Yun Ling, Xiao Ming entered the Magical Beast Mountain Range. He hunted magical beasts for beast cores, refined their power to reinforce his foundation, evaded Yun Ling’s pursuit, and continued developing Gungnir and his lightning-based techniques. 25 26 32 39 40 41

Personality

Xiao Ming is protective of vulnerable people and acts decisively against those who exploit them. His takeover of Black Demon Stockade was motivated in part by his refusal to let its bandits continue preying on Little Peach, her mother, and nearby civilians. He later rescued trafficked children and targeted the Jia Lie Clan after learning of its involvement. 4 5 10 11

He is ambitious but cautious. Although he intends to build a force in Wu Tan City, he repeatedly prioritizes intelligence gathering, disciplined preparation, foundation-building, and the safety of his followers over reckless expansion. 8 15 21 26

Xiao Ming can be ruthless toward enemies he considers irredeemable. He chose to execute Ao Bapa and Yun Xi rather than leave them capable of threatening the Xiao Clan after its evacuation. 22 24 25

Despite his power, he does not seek world domination. His stated desire is to live peacefully while becoming strong enough that the Misty Cloud Sect will hesitate to target the Xiao Clan. 19
