Sean had a feeling that as long as he pulled the trigger, he would definitely hit the target!
It was a very strange feeling~
Like foresight~
Or perhaps confidence~
Either way~ it was worth trying!
"Bang~"
A gunshot rang out~
The bullet struck the gunman aiming at Yuriko dead on! A bloody hole appeared in his forehead~ red-and-white fluid sprayed from the back of his head, and then he collapsed...
"..."
Sean quickly ducked back into the office, then stared blankly at the pistol in his hand.
What was going on?
A sharpshooter?
Could it be that he had some mutant ability called "Never Miss"? There probably wasn't even a mutant power like that!
Sean hated this feeling of ignorance!
After a brief moment of thought, Sean felt a wave of irritation. He lightly shook the pistol in his hand, trying to find the source of that emotion.
Was it because he had fired? Or because he had killed someone?
Or simply because he could not understand the feeling he had experienced while shooting just now?
The fighting and gunfire in the warehouse made Sean even more irritated. He swiftly stood up and aimed at the four gang gunmen still moving~
"Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!~"
After four consecutive shots, three gunmen fell.
The final bullet did not hit its target. A cane flying in from the side struck it and knocked it off course~
It was Daredevil!
After deflecting the bullet, he quickly swept the gunman down with a side kick, saving his life.
"Slaughter solves nothing. It will only make violence come back even harder!"
After knocking down the gunman, Daredevil spoke to Sean.
Sean frowned, jumped down from the second floor, and unhurriedly walked over to a jeep. He opened the cargo on it.
Yellowish-white hard blocks.
There was at least a ton of it in total. There was no need to check the second vehicle; it was surely full of the same stuff.
"How many people do you think this stuff will kill?"
Sean asked Daredevil.
"The law will judge them!"
"..." Sean was speechless. Daredevil's way of thinking was even stranger than Batman's.
"So, you're here on behalf of the law?"
Daredevil fell silent. What he did was not necessarily legal either. After pausing for a moment, he continued:
"Killing them solves nothing. There will be others. You can't kill everyone!"
"At least I got rid of a few pieces of trash, didn't I?"
Sean did not mince words. There was no point reasoning with people who clung to dogma like this.
"I mean... your eyes aren't blind anymore, so why is your heart blind?"
Perhaps understanding what Sean meant, Yuriko willingly finished off all those who were not yet dead...
Not only Daredevil, but Sean was also stunned by what she did.
When Yuriko moved to finish off the gunman Daredevil had just knocked unconscious, Daredevil made his move!
He tried to stop Yuriko!
Unfortunately, their strength was not on the same level at all.
Yuriko was far stronger than Daredevil, just as agile, and unafraid of pain...
Daredevil was no match for her. Even without using her claws, he failed to last three moves before being driven back~
After forcing Daredevil back, Yuriko casually slit the gunman's throat.
"You've gone too far!"
Daredevil said angrily.
"Drug dealers are worthy of your sympathy?"
"No, I'm still angry. But anger is a weapon. You have to control that weapon. Anger that slips out of control is useless. Using the violence of killing to fight violence is wrong! Violence does not discriminate. It harms everyone..."
Sean had no time to listen to his lecture. He directly cut Daredevil off and said casually:
"The cops will be here soon. Maybe you want to wait for them, but we're leaving."
Sean and Yuriko left. Yuriko carried the money Kingpin's men had brought, while Sean took the pistol.
Daredevil watched their departing backs and clenched his fists, his thoughts in turmoil.
Not long after their car left, seven or eight vehicles drove past.
They were in a great hurry, likely Kingpin's men coming as reinforcements. But they were clearly too late. All that remained was a floor covered in corpses and shell casings.
The money was gone. Even the cargo was now billowing thick smoke.
When the police sirens sounded, those men withdrew as well. Staying would accomplish nothing. They should report to Kingpin first.
After getting into the car with Yuriko, Sean received a call from Vanessa.
Vanessa really was slow on the uptake. She had only just learned what had happened at the clinic, and only after seeing the news.
"Are you okay?"
Vanessa sounded anxious.
"I'm fine, but I might be unemployed."
"It's okay. The bookstore makes enough to support us. As long as you're okay."
After exchanging a few sweet words with Vanessa over the phone, Sean suddenly remembered that he had no idea where he was supposed to go now.
Should he take Yuriko home?
Glancing at the large bag Yuriko had placed in the passenger seat, Sean decided to splurge tonight and stay at a hotel!
"Vanny. I'm not coming home tonight. I'm planning to..."
"I never told you to come home!"
"..."
Vanessa, our relationship is broken! If you won't fix it, then I'm not going back!
Sean was so angry his teeth hurt.
But thanks to Vanessa's interruption, the discomfort he had felt from killing people had completely vanished.
That night, they did indeed stay at a hotel, and Sean even called Ava and Linda over.
"The insurance company said they can't compensate us as an accident. They'll only agree to pay half."
The moment Linda arrived, she brought Sean bad news.
Half?
More than a million would definitely be enough to rebuild the house, with some left over.
But making him wait one or two months for the house to be rebuilt... he would rather be stabbed.
"Also, someone contacted me about buying your land."
Linda added.
"How much?"
"One million."
Sean frowned. The price was not low. Even as a residential lot, that land was worth at most seven or eight hundred thousand. Offering one million showed real sincerity. They probably wanted to swallow up all those plots and acquire an entire block?
After selling the land, he would have more than two million in total.
That was definitely not enough to directly buy a suitable place. Overall, he would be taking a loss, and it left him feeling stifled.
"No, we're not selling! We're buying more land! Buy the two lots next to ours. I'm building a bigger clinic!"
Sean slapped the table and declared energetically.
Since he had decided to expand the clinic, he might as well do it properly in one go! He would build a huge clinic!
I, Sean White, will build my own house!
With unlimited stamina, I can work twenty-four hours a day! One man equals eight!
Linda Carter: "..."
Ava Ellis: "..."
Since when had Doctor White become so generous? He actually wanted to buy land and build a house?
Was this really the Doctor White they knew?
"We don't have that much money..."
Linda said with a pained expression.
Sean curled his lips into a smile and gave Yuriko a look.
Yuriko took out the large bag and opened it...
Linda covered her little mouth, too shocked to speak!
Ava was also a little jealous. With that much money, how long could it cover her interest payments?
Count the money!
Linda eagerly counted the bills.
"Doctor White, thirteen million! Thirteen million!"
The little nurse practically had stars shooting from her eyes. Her cheeks were flushed, and she looked deliriously excited.
"Mm... have you paid taxes on it?"
A single sentence from Ava dragged the smug Sean and excited Linda back to reality.
Taxes... nobody could escape them~
Money from an unknown source was not easy to spend!
There were some issues with what I wrote earlier, so I can only make the best of a bad situation.
Once my computer is fixed, I'll go back and revise some details. Typing on a phone really makes it easy to miss things~
The construction permits and such... have been simplified. Construction starts next chapter!
Shamelessly asking for votes again~ φ(>ω<*)
