You the Daoist accepted the edict Lin Tingzhi handed him. After one glance, he solemnly nodded and made a Daoist salute. "Please oversee matters from behind, Court Executor Lin."
Lin Tingzhi returned the salute with a grave expression.
With a sweep of his sleeve, You the Daoist opened a formation gate beside him with a thunderous crash. He turned and stepped inside, arriving in the formation hub altar at the very center of the grand formation in the blink of an eye.
This place stood above all the formations. From here, he could connect and direct the formation mechanisms everywhere, unifying them into a single whole.
He raised his head and looked ahead, faintly discerning the massive outline of the Azure Spirit Heavenly Branch. A pale azure mist surrounded it, concealing the formations within. Currents churned inside, hiding countless marvelous and profound transformations.
He sighed. "I never thought that one day, I would preside over the formation mechanisms and attack such a grand formation."
When he had still been a Daoist child, he had studied the methods of constructing formations and often followed his teacher to observe the great formations throughout Divine Xia.
Whenever his teacher arrived somewhere, he would speak without end about how a formation should be established, how it should be broken, and how it should be attacked. Everyone in Divine Xia knew of his abilities, but his teacher was generous and mild by nature and did not like conflict or killing. Thus, he had never truly broken even a single grand formation.
Later, a senior cultivator of considerable background sent his teacher a letter, accusing him of committing great harm and ordering him to take his own life.
Pressed beyond endurance, and unwilling to implicate his fellow disciples, his teacher could only give up his life.
