Chapter 1324: Stealing Power Was Not as One Wished
Just as the giant monster's pair of massive claws was about to fall upon Zhang Yu, he did not respond directly. A phantom shimmered around him, and his Fate Seal avatar stepped forth. With a calm, smoke-free motion, it pressed a hand toward the monster. Starlight flashed, and the creature instantly burst apart into a rain of flesh and blood that filled the sky.
Zhang Yu himself stood where he was, hands tucked into his sleeves, without moving. This attack had been far too simple—so simple that defending against it posed no difficulty whatsoever. He had to consider whether there was some deeper intent behind it. Given the existence of verbal oaths, it was quite possible that if he could not help but personally strike back at the enemy, he would fulfill one of the other party's oath conditions.
Yet he would not throw away the food for fear of choking and become too afraid even to retaliate. He had already tested it earlier: once the Great Dao Seal was involved, the other party's oath constraints found it difficult to bind him. And since the Fate Seal avatar was both his avatar and something empowered by the Great Dao Seal, it could bypass the other party's restrictions.
After the monster scattered into countless pieces of flesh, it did not settle down. Instead, it dispersed again into innumerable insects so tiny as to be nearly imperceptible, swarming toward him from all sides.
Zhang Yu remained composed. At their level, so long as one had not transcended into a higher realm, external things were all the same whether minute or vast. At most, they represented changes in the methods used in battle; without coordination, however, none of them meant anything when taken alone.
