"What sort of place is the Lingering Gloom Land?"
Although Guo had withdrawn to a distance, he had kept listening to the conversation between Zhang Yu and Sui Daoist. He, too, wished to learn why Zhang Yu had come here.
Yet he was puzzled. He had never heard of such a place in Origin Xia. Or was it some sort of code phrase?
He could not help pondering in secret, Could Envoy Zhang have come here to inquire about this place? Or was he using it to conceal his true purpose?
As he thought, he pricked up his ears, intending to record everything and report it to Councilor Lan upon his return.
When Sui Daoist heard Zhang Yu ask about the whereabouts of "Lingering Gloom," surprise appeared on his face. He looked Zhang Yu over several times, then laughed. "It seems that Exalted True Person Zhang has seen the manuscripts I left behind?"
Zhang Yu nodded. "After arriving in Origin Xia, I was fortunate enough to read your Poreless Origin Record, True Person Sui. I found the various matters recorded within quite interesting. Later, I heard that you had not actually completed this work in full, so I deliberately collected many of the manuscripts you left behind. Only then did I learn of this place."
Only one or two passages in Sui Daoist's notes mentioned this place, but they never explained how to reach it, nor where exactly it was located.
What was interesting was that he had read quite a few books since coming to Origin Xia, yet no other volume had ever described this region. Thus, aside from the possibility that it was an exceedingly secret place unknown to others, he guessed that this might have been a name Sui Daoist had coined himself. In that case, only
