Background / History
Origin Xia had already glimpsed the Ultimate Dao and evolved myriad worlds before Celestial Xia learned of its existence. Its ability to destroy worlds was regarded as proof of overwhelming strength, placing Celestial Xia at a severe disadvantage in both Dao methods and military resources. 1366
Celestial Xia was evolved from Origin Xia but developed independently through its own history. This divergence created a fundamental conflict: Origin Xia proceeds from above to below and seeks to extinguish change, while Celestial Xia advances from below to above and embraces change and new paths. 1366 1424 1995
Origin Xia's expansion relied on the destruction, annexation, and reorganization of other world-domains. It absorbed their techniques, materials, treasures, and cultivators into its own system, while its Upper Hall planned foreign campaigns and its Promotion Faction carried them out through subordinate-world cultivators. 1472 1483
Society and Governance
The Two Halls and Myriad Ways
- Origin Upper Hall — Oversees Origin Xia's external affairs and contains rival Elder and Promotion factions. 1483
- Upper and Lower Halls — Temporarily set aside internal disputes when confronting Celestial Xia, but their competing interests repeatedly affected strategy and command. 1575
- Myriad Ways — Origin Xia's Dao lineages; the Poreless Origin Record broadly describes the strength of thirty-three Ways. 1472
- Councilors and Grand Councilors — Councilors direct forces and resources, while Grand Councilors hold greater standing within Origin Xia's hierarchy. 1499 1603
- Subordinate worlds — Conquered or affiliated world-domains supply cultivators and resources for Origin Xia's campaigns. 1483 1496
Social Hierarchy
Origin Xia rigidly separates superior and inferior ranks. Upper Layer cultivators alone may use upper-tier artifacts, while lower-ranked cultivators are restricted to lower artifacts even when capable of using more advanced ones. 1461
- Important disciples may be raised to a cultivation realm through ritual methods, though their combat ability may not match cultivators who advanced normally. 1843
- Exceptional benefits, including superior rituals, are reserved for sect heads, clan elders, direct-line heirs, and figures Origin Xia considers strategically valuable. 1470
- Many subordinate-world cultivators serve Origin Xia under the control of Calamity-Avoiding Pills, limiting their ability to defect. 1496
Doctrine and Capabilities
Origin Xia Heavenly Order
Origin Xia maintains a fixed Heavenly Order formed through the annexation of myriad ages. Dao-stabilizing and Dao-suppressing treasures are central to preserving this order and to sustaining its realm-wide mechanisms. 1947
- The Heaven-Bearing Diagram anchors Origin Xia's stable Dao mechanism and enables the reliable refinement of its array devices. 1623
- Origin Xia cannot freely create additional Dao-stabilizing treasures, as maintaining the Heavenly Order takes precedence. 1947
- The Heavenly Order periodically undergoes rotational flaws, which Celestial Xia exploits for counterattacks. 2194
- Origin Xia uses treasures that suppress the Dao to obstruct communication, defend its domain, and restrict opposing methods. 1449 1552
Formation Artifacts
Origin Xia combines formations and artifacts into integrated devices, giving its Upper Layer equipment far greater potential than formations alone. 1461
- Pier Cauldron — A large array vessel through which ordinary cultivators can refine needed array devices without personally forging them. 1470
- Formation-artifact hierarchy — Artifact techniques are deliberately divided by rank, preventing lower cultivators from accessing superior equipment. 1461
- Golden vessels — Used for transportation, warfare, and the deployment of Origin Xia cultivators across void passages. 1481 2213
- Myriad Immortals' Ferry — Used alongside array devices to wear down Celestial Xia's defenses during the protracted void war. 1617
Conquest and Assimilation
Origin Xia records and appropriates knowledge from destroyed worlds rather than simply erasing it. The incomplete Poreless Origin Record catalogues external worlds' Dao methods, materials, treasures, customs, and methods for incorporating them into Origin Xia's system. 1472
- Foreign worlds are used as sources of cultivators for Origin Xia's wars. 1483
- Some conquered domains are transformed into specialized environments, such as the Furnace World-Domain, whose inhabitants became bloodline-linked half-human, half-monster beings. 1464
- Origin Xia values hard power and strategic utility over the welfare of subordinate peoples. 1483 1496
Conflict with Celestial Xia
Initial Contact and Reconnaissance
Celestial Xia learned that Origin Xia was preparing for an unavoidable struggle between civilizations. Zhang Yu's delegation later entered Origin Xia using external bodies to investigate its internal structure, military capabilities, and formation techniques. 1367 1438 1440
The delegation discovered Origin Xia's factional divisions, its use of foreign-world cultivators, and the scale of its artifact-based military system. Zhang Yu sent accumulated intelligence back to Celestial Xia, though he concluded that the strength gap remained immense. 1483
The Ravine Realm Offensive
Origin Xia attacked the Ravine Realm as part of its effort to pressure Celestial Xia through subordinate domains. Its cultivators were ultimately trapped when the gate at Two Realms Pass closed, cutting off their retreat and allowing Celestial Xia reinforcements to capture them. 1535 1540
- Daoist He became the first Origin Xia cultivator with superior achievement defeated by Celestial Xia in a formal confrontation. 1540
- The setback forced Origin Xia to reconsider its original strategy and contributed to the escalation toward direct war. 1540 1550
Protracted Void War
Origin Xia conducted a long campaign of attrition using array devices, Myriad Immortals' Ferry, and sequential pressure against Celestial Xia's void defenses. After two years, it breached the final void region and reopened the passage between the realms. 1617
Celestial Xia later counterattacked after Zhang Yu defeated seven Origin Xia cultivators pursuing the Dao of Seeking Completeness. The Profound Court set a two-year limit for its offensive, seeking to weaken Origin Xia rather than immediately conquer it. 1633
Later Escalation
Origin Xia received support from the Upper Three Worlds and launched a major assault on Celestial Xia's forbidden array. It also dispatched deliberators into Celestial Xia's domains to recruit defectors, foment disorder, and divide Celestial Xia's forces. 2179
Celestial Xia eventually shattered the Half-Awakened Immortal barrier after nine strikes with the True Unity Origin Eye, then pressed toward Origin Xia's void domain while Origin Xia withdrew further Dao-Calming Treasures to prevent their loss. 2245
