On another Grand Platform, Daoist Zhengqing was also confronting Daoist Xin.
Daoist Xin was in no hurry to make a move. Instead, he said, "The one who previously crossed paths with Exalted True Zhengqing was my junior brother. My junior brother failed to determine victory or defeat with you, Exalted True One, so I shall measure our heights myself and give him an accounting."
Daoist Zhengqing said calmly, "I do not remember such a person."
Daoist Xin looked at him, then smiled again. "So you do not remember? Better not to remember. Better so. We cultivators seek the Dao and merge with the Dao. Once we fall in defeat, we are no longer tolerated by the Great Dao. If one cannot pass through, what use is there in leaving a trace?"
Daoist Zhengqing said, "Did you invite me to battle today merely to debate the Dao with words?"
Daoist Xin smiled again. "I was merely curious." He stared at Daoist Zhengqing. "For I see that your Dao, Exalted True One, is utterly pure and clear, admitting no heterodox Dao whatsoever.
"But in that case, you are bound to be unable to tolerate any outer impurity or anything that does not accord with your own Dao. Would you then be unable to tolerate Celestial Xia as well? When that time came, could Celestial Xia truly accommodate you?"
As he spoke, his gaze flickered. "If you continue like this, there will be nothing but yourself. If your cultivation were shallow, that would be one thing. But the deeper your cultivation becomes, the more incompatible you become with Celestial Xia. In the end, only one of you and Celestial Xia can remain. Either Celestial Xia will perish, or you will abandon this Dao. Xin truly wishes to know: when that day truly arrives,
