At present, the enhancement of his Heartlight Seal had already reached its limit. There would be no more major advancement, though minute improvements were still possible. This stemmed from the ever-shifting heavenly workings of Celestial Xia; cultivators themselves were not stagnant pools of water, so such changes were bound to exist.
Such changes would not fundamentally elevate him, but as the saying went, if one did not advance, one retreated. They merely allowed him to maintain his current peak state.
At the same time, he could sense that these changes were becoming fewer and fewer. This was the process of changing into unchanging, and likewise the process of conforming to the Dao. Once one's own Dao methods merged with the heavenly Dao, there would naturally no longer be spontaneous changes. What changed would be the Dao itself. Thus, when he could no longer perceive such changes at all, his preparations in this regard would be complete.
There was another aspect: the cultivation of Dao methods. He needed to temper his own Dao methods until they were pure and magnificent. The pursuit of the Dao began with conforming to the Dao; after conforming to the Dao came breaking the Dao. Beyond bringing one's Heartlight Seal to its utmost pinnacle, conforming to the Dao also required pushing one's own Dao methods to their very limit.
In the past, his Dao methods had lacked transformations. Since the Six Seals of the Great Dao had become complete, this shortcoming had gradually been remedied, yet he remained just a little short of fully comprehending the principles within.
