After the Daoists Qiuquan of Origin Xia and Celestial Xia had faced off for some time, no one knew who first unleashed their Dao techniques, but it immediately set off a wave of attacks from the other side.
In an instant, at least twenty Daoist cultivators of Qiuquan were battling in the void. Spiritual light from all manner of Dao techniques flashed through the emptiness, and as those techniques crisscrossed and fell, the battlefield had nearly become a place that devoured all things.
In but a brief moment, it seemed that nothing could escape from there. Yet another moment later, immeasurable light appeared to shine forth. This repeated again and again.
The place where both sides battled also underwent a fearsome change. It was as if every sort of Dao mechanism had become shattered and chaotic there. Other than Qiuquan cultivators, nothing seemed able to exist—not even the void.
This sort of battle was far from as simple as a one-on-one clash. The distance between them seemed not to exist at all. From the outset, Origin Xia's cultivators intended to exploit their numerical advantage and first eliminate one or two cultivators from Celestial Xia's side.
If they succeeded, they would build up a tremendous advantage, making the remaining opponents much easier to handle. Even if they could return by controlling another false body, there would be a period of vulnerability. They might then seize the momentum to break this formation.
Celestial Xia had long been prepared for this. Taking advantage of having the formation at their backs, they used the vital force of the Pure Spirit Abode to shield themselves as much as possible. The moment anything went wrong, they immediately retreated inside. The Dao techniques of Qiuquan cultivators could effortlessly ruin ordinary formations, but they were helpless against formations
