Zhang Yu looked at the five Controllers above the Golden Court. He understood that although they differed from Origin Xia's five, in essence they were still lofty innate spirits.
Though these ancient sages and high gods needed to rely on the strength of beings in the Lower Layer to stir the Heavenly Dao and thereby seek a higher Dao, they regarded the beings below as nothing more than tools to be used.
Perhaps cultivators of somewhat higher realms were qualified to communicate with them, but they would not spare the slightest thought for the minds and wishes of the lowlier living beings.
He also understood that innate spirits were never comparable to ordinary creatures. They had attained the Dao by nature, and naturally would feel neither sorrow nor joy for all living things. Moreover, since the beings of the Lower Layer possessed no power to influence or contend against them, such an attitude was only natural.
After contemplating for a moment, he said calmly, "The five Controllers may rest assured. I too understand that the struggle between Origin Xia's Dao and Celestial Xia's Dao is the urgent priority."
Tai Chu said, "It is the Dao's good fortune that Controller Qing Xuan thinks so. However, there is still one matter of which we must remind Controller Qing Xuan."
Tai Shi said, "We know that Controller Qing Xuan has already refined a treasure that stabilizes the Dao. If it is an implement rooted in yourself, refining it poses no problem. But should you refine another in the future, it will stir the Heavenly Dao. Thus, when undertaking such a matter in the future, you must deliberate with all the Controllers before a decision can be made."
Zhang Yu had no objection to this. "This concerns the greater whole. It is only proper."
