On the third day of the sixth month, the incarnation of an Arcane Venerable was to expound the Dao.
Within Falling Star Palace Complex, the many arcane cultivator disciples put away the excitement they had felt these past few days over their victory in the Profound Truth Discourse, all preparing to head to the place of the sermon and listen to the Dao.
In truth, an Arcane Venerable's exposition of the Dao was of a rather lofty level. Only cultivators who had reached the middle level might gain something from it; lower-level cultivators would almost gain no benefit at all.
Yet whether or not they could understand it, they were all willing to go and listen. And what if they happened to possess exceptional talent that had never been unearthed before? Perhaps they would attain enlightenment once they went?
Even if they gained nothing, they could still say afterward that they had heard an Arcane Venerable expound the Dao. It would sound extraordinary enough to others.
As the disciples gradually filed out of Falling Star Palace Complex, Yu Ruiqing stood beneath a covered walkway to one side of the plaza before the complex with his disciple Yue Luo, seeming to await someone.
After a while, a young Daoist clad in a greatcloak, his face hidden beneath a hood, approached from the distance.
Once he drew near, Yu Ruiqing cupped his hands in salute and said, "Fellow Daoist Zhang."
Zhang Yu returned the salute. "Fellow Daoist Yu, I have kept you waiting."
Yue Luo also performed a respectful curtsy at his side and said, "Mr. Zhang."
Having accepted the gifted jade slip from Zhang Yu, she had received his instruction as well. He could be counted as half a teacher to her, which was why she addressed him thus.
