Zhang Yu took out the jade talisman again and stepped forward. As a faint gleam flashed over the talisman, his entire body passed straight through the wall. Where he touched, it seemed to turn into flowing water made of molten light. Once he had completely passed through, the wall returned to its former appearance.

Looking up, he found himself standing within a vast domed hall whose span from earth to sky was impossible to see. Gentle light streamed down from above in columns, scattering more widely the farther down it went.

Along the walls of the dome hall stood layer upon layer of enormous crystal cabins, as if carved from single blocks of Glazed Jade. Each one was separated by silvery metal partitions. At a glance, they resembled an unusual kind of beehive.

Here, anyone could enter the lower level through a sundial.

The so-called lower level was relative to the inner and outer levels, because the level of power that could manifest there was lower.
