Fortunately, things went smoothly. The Guardian of Rectitude Palace accepted the letter, and Zhang Yu sent them a reply. Only then were the two at ease. They left the Dao Palace, met up with Shi Cheng, and together came before the Guardian of Rectitude Palace.
When Zhang Yu learned that the three had arrived, he personally emerged from the Dao Palace and stood before the hall doors to welcome them. Shi Cheng aside, Feng and Gao were, after all, Court Executives of the Profound Court, and such courtesy was only proper.
After exchanging formal greetings outside, he invited the three inside.
Once Daoist Feng entered and reached the main hall, he solemnly bowed to Zhang Yu.
Zhang Yu said, "Court Executive Feng, what does this mean?"
Daoist Feng said, "Guardian Zhang, in the past, we were trapped within the haze of our own delusions and completely forgot that we ourselves had been elevated only because the Profound Court wished to promote the Profound Method. What the Profound Court valued was never us, but the Profound Method.
"The Profound Court wanted us to blaze a trail for those who came after, yet we could not distinguish the righteous path. For decades, we thought only of preserving our own authority and neglected the countless mystic cultivators under heaven, who were our true foundation.
"It was we who first proved inadequate, failing to perfect the Profound Method over these years. We cannot blame Court Executive Zhong and the others for wishing to support creations later on. But this blame should not fall upon the Profound Method, much less upon the mystic cultivators under heaven.
