Zhou Yao yawned as he walked into the classroom, his face thick with exhaustion.

He'd spent last night studying materials on Ascension Rituals until deep into the night, and coupled with his perilous experience in the Yin Mountain Realm, his mental state was in terrible shape. His eyelids felt so heavy they seemed ready to shut at any moment.

He subconsciously glanced at the seat beside his. For some reason, the top student young miss who usually arrived early hadn't come to school today, leaving her seat completely empty.

Zhou Yao swept his gaze around the classroom and found that quite a few other seats were vacant as well. Around seven or eight classmates were absent. For senior-year students about to face the college entrance exams, absences on this scale were rather rare.

At the podium, the math teacher was explaining questions from last week's exam, his voice echoing through the classroom. But Zhou Yao's attention was nowhere near those numbers and formulas.

Still, Zhou Yao didn't pay it much mind and headed straight back to his seat.

He casually opened his Mythology General Knowledge textbook and put on the appearance of listening attentively. At the podium, the teacher was explaining questions from the last exam, chalk scratching across the blackboard with a soft rustling sound.

But Zhou Yao's attention was completely off the lesson.

He took out the materials on Ascension Rituals that he'd organized yesterday, hiding them amid a pile of test papers and textbooks, and began studying them closely.
