The sect's historical rise is tied to the Snow-Drinking Ancestor, Wudong's foremost ice-path master of his era. His victory over the Mountain-Settling Sect's strongest cultivator established Cangwu Sect as one of Wudong's three great sects. 86

Before Huangfu Ying's leadership, the sect had been heavily suppressed by the Mountain-Settling Sect and weakened by indecisive upper management. Over less than thirty years, Huangfu Ying reversed that position, ultimately making Cangwu Sect Wudong's dominant power. 264

Cangwu Sect dispatched its elite cultivators against the Blood-Robed Alliance in Beiling Commandery and used the conflict as a lethal training ground for outer disciples. The campaign also protected mortal families connected to sect disciples. 53 54 During this period, Kong Jiao became suspicious that higher powers might be manipulating both sides after an unknown blood-robed figure harvested the blood essence of the dead; this suspicion was not confirmed. 70

The sect's conflict with the Mountain-Settling Sect escalated after Kong Jiao killed Lu Wenji and Huangfu Wuqin was captured in Azure Lake Blessed Land. Cangwu Sect joined the Mosheng Sect in an extermination campaign within the blessed land, then Huangfu Ying issued a broader call for a joint Wudong campaign. 223 250

The Mountain-Settling Sect collapsed during the ensuing war. Cangwu Sect took the greatest portion of the defeated sect's resources, gained broad support across Wudong, and became its foremost sect. 263

Under Huangfu Ying's rule, the territory outside the mountain gate developed into Wudong's commercial center. Inner and Outer Sects
