Background / History

Huangfu Wuqin is the only daughter of Cangwu Sect Master Huangfu Ying and Princess Qing of the Heavenly Qi Imperial Family. Her mother is the Azure Phoenix Prince’s sister, making Wuqin both a Cangwu Sect heir and a Heavenly Qi princess. 276 299

Her talent and fortune made her famous throughout Wudong long before Kong Jiao met her. She once pursued a genius cultivator for tens of thousands of li after he accidentally grazed her with a Dao technique, only stopping after he fled beyond Wudong; Huangfu Ying had forbidden her from leaving Wudong, preventing the pursuit from continuing further. 36

At Frostmoon Altar, she confronted Han Dong after he used cultivators’ blood to nourish his spirit wheel with Human-Spirit Essence. She had also come at Zhou Tingyu’s request to save Kong Jiao, beginning her long association with him. 32 36

Appearance

Huangfu Wuqin is a tall, slender young woman whose otherworldly beauty is often paired with an oppressive, domineering presence. Her golden eyes are the most striking sign of her Human Emperor bloodline. 32 352 408

  • Usually wears refined ruqun or other elegant robes, including white, pale yellow, and green garments. 32 408
  • Has long dark hair; it is described as cascading and wind-tossed in battle. 231
  • Her eyes shine gold and can make ordinary cultivators instinctively wary. 264 352
  • Her lightning arts commonly surround her in golden radiance. 169 231

Personality

Huangfu Wuqin is intensely proud, stubborn, and certain of her own strength. She speaks bluntly to enemies and allies alike, shows little patience for disrespect, and expects juniors such as Kong Jiao to address her as “Senior Sister Huangfu.” 32 48

Despite her fearsome reputation, she has a playful and youthful side. She enjoys candied hawthorn, feeding fish, fishing, teasing Kong Jiao, and taking Mu Xiaoye out to play. 48 102 272 280 She dislikes Heavenly Qi’s rigid etiquette and frequent kneeling, preferring the freer customs of Wudong. 297

She is protective of those she recognizes as her own. She cared for Kong Jiao during his year-long unconsciousness, defended him against the Second Prince’s criticism, and repeatedly aids him with cultivation guidance and sect resources. 101 102 185 272

Abilities & Skills

Lightning Dao Arts

Huangfu Wuqin’s principal combat path is lightning. Her golden lightning is characterized by vastness and majesty rather than sinister destructive aura. 169

  • Condensed an entire sea of fire into a palm-sized fire pellet through a net of golden lightning. 169
  • Uses Azure Thunderfall, summoning a pillar of golden lightning to strike restrained enemies. 289
  • Can manifest Thunder Pool, flooding a battlefield with a sea of lightning. 290
  • Uses the Thunder Moves Nine Thousand inheritance for extreme-speed lightning movement and evasive combat. 269 290
  • Her mastery of lightning arts comes from Thunder Venerable’s personal instruction. 269

Thunder-Hearing Abyss

Her peak mystic-grade Dao foundation, Thunder-Hearing Abyss, resembles an unfathomably deep thunder pool and underpins her extraordinary lightning combat power. 352

  • Its Dharma Aspect calls lightning down from the heavens in a pillar capable of shattering Ling Xi’s Golden Crow armor. 231
  • Her foundation was initially unreadable even to Kong Jiao’s Void-Soul Vision because of the golden radiance permeating her body. 264
  • Her Human Emperor bloodline further amplifies her pressure and makes her a natural counter to Ling Xi in both strength and fortune. 231 352

Soul-Refining Gourd

Huangfu Wuqin possesses a Soul-Refining Gourd containing a powerful monster. 235

  • Summoned the monster to kill the Black Serpent Tribe’s clan chief with a single trident strike. 291
  • Controlled the creature alongside Ge Xia during the battle against a black-robed Life-Mastery cultivator. 235
  • Recognized when deploying the gourd was necessary, rather than using it needlessly against weaker enemies. 291

Golden Pupils

  • Examines a cultivator’s spirit wheel, spiritual energy, and essence fusion directly. 185
  • Identified the Soul-Calming Bell as a spirit-infused heavy artifact at a glance. 232

  • Mu Xiaoye — Younger companion whom Wuqin dotes on, partly because Mu Xiaoye calls her “Sister Huangfu.” 266 280
  • Ling Xi — Rival prodigy and recurring opponent. Wuqin defeated him after entering Wheel Ascension and later overwhelmed him with Thunder-Hearing Abyss. 169 231
  • Bai Yuanjin / Second Prince — Heavenly Qi prince with an approved marriage contract to Wuqin. She rejects the arrangement and openly resists his attempts to judge or control her companions. 264 272 302
