[Previous recap: In his past life, Tang Wulin had committed suicide for love. Yet when he opened his eyes again, he had returned to the very moment he fell upon Douluo Continent. Given another chance, Tang Wulin resolved to change everything. He entered the Tang Sect, made contact with Zang Xin, and revealed to him the threats posed by the abyss and evil soul masters. After entering Shrek, a chance encounter allowed him to communicate with the Golden Ancient Tree. The tree proposed a deal, confirming that this rebirth was far from simple. Tang Wulin ultimately accepted the deal and formally entered the sights of the Limit Douluos. After several campaigns to eradicate evil soul masters, Tang Wulin decided to begin by changing Shrek and the Tang Sect, taking the initiative and pointing his blade directly at the abyss and the Holy Spirit Cult. At Shrek's summit stood the Golden Crown.
Yun Ming stood quietly atop the canopy, his eyes closed.
"They've arrived," he said flatly.
A tall, upright figure slowly approached from behind him. "Pavilion Master."
It was Tang Wulin.
Yun Ming opened his eyes and gazed into the distance. "You were right."
Tang Wulin said, "Looks like you've already caught them."
Yun Ming nodded, his voice grave. "The Blood God Army has asked for enough already. Without evidence they can openly present, there's no way their funding will be increased."
"The Tang Sect and Shrek aren't short on money, are they?" Tang Wulin asked.
Yun Ming frowned. "You need to understand. Shrek and the Tang Sect have always remained neutral and rarely involved themselves in the Federation's military institutions. Though the Blood God Army is a special case, making rash moves that don't fit our position could easily make those people overly sensitive."
Tang Wulin shook his head. "You need to understand as well. No one can stay uninvolved in this matter. If Shrek and the Tang Sect do nothing, we'll simply be handing the initiative over to others."
Yun Ming gave him a long look. "You seem to know something."
"There's no point in saying it. No one in this world would believe me anyway," Tang Wulin said softly. "But it never hurts to be prepared."
"I'll discuss this with Zang Xin again," Yun Ming said.
Tang Wulin smiled faintly. "Thank you for trusting me."
Yun Ming waved a hand. "Go. He should already be waiting."
Tang Wulin gave a slight bow, took a step back, and vanished from the Golden Crown.
A streak of white light descended beside Yun Ming. Yali looked somewhat puzzled. "Brother Ming, why do you trust him so much?"
Yun Ming sighed. "Rather than saying I trust him, it would be more accurate to say I trust his spear. A person whose spear intent is so lonely, yet whose spear's essence is protection. That's worth taking a gamble on."
Yali paused, then laughed. "Forget it. I like him anyway."
Yun Ming smiled helplessly. "You really are..."
Guided by the Tang Sect, Tang Wulin got out of the car to find a dense forest before him.
At a glance, Tang Wulin spotted the handsome man standing not far away.
He greeted him, "Your Excellency."
The Amorous Douluo, Zang Xin, nodded. "Come with me."
Since Tang Wulin did not yet possess the ability to fly, Zang Xin gripped his shoulder with one hand and took him along. To a Limit Douluo, the distance to their destination was no more than an instant.
Zang Xin stopped before a valley shrouded in seven-colored mist, the two of them suspended in midair. A glint flashed through Zang Xin's eyes, and several enormous swords appeared in the air. Their razor-sharp pressure scattered the mist completely.
A purple figure appeared before them.
"Why has the Amorous Douluo come here?"
Tang Wulin's eyes lit up. "Qiluo."
The man in purple froze. "How do you know me?"
Zang Xin had long grown accustomed to Tang Wulin being full of secrets.
He shoved Tang Wulin forward. "Handle it yourself. There's business at Douluo Hall, so I'll be leaving first."
Deprived of support, Tang Wulin fell from the sky.
Silken Tulip clearly had yet to react when he saw one person plummeting while the other turned and left.
The Blue Silver Emperor lashed out. Tang Wulin used it for leverage and landed lightly on the ground.
Silken Tulip followed him down, his expression strange. "What is going on with your Tang Sect?"
Tang Wulin coughed lightly. "I came this time because I want to find a soul spirit."
The confusion on Silken Tulip's face vanished at once, replaced by icy severity. "Did the Amorous Douluo send you here to die?"
Tang Wulin chuckled.
Silken Tulip looked at him coldly.
Several enormous spirit herbs ahead of them had also taken human form.
Star Anise Mysterious Ice Grass, Infernal Delicate Apricot, and the others all watched curiously.
"What's going on? Is this human really that reckless? Even if Qiluo isn't very aggressive, he's still a two-hundred-thousand-year soul beast."
Silken Tulip said, "I'll give you one last chance. For Amorous's sake, I can let you leave."
Tang Wulin sighed. A green-gold soul ring rose beneath his feet. Stimulated by the life force of the Icefire Yin-Yang Well, the green-gold soul ring began to shine.
All at once.
Silken Tulip's expression became vacant.
The other ferocious beasts discovered that they could not move, able only to watch as the green-gold halo enveloped them all.
Wave after wave of bloodline power surged through them, and their soul power began to rise violently.
Tang Wulin even felt a trace of pain and let out a muffled groan.
Silken Tulip's true body shrank smaller and smaller beneath the green-gold radiance before turning into a streak of light that entered Tang Wulin's brow.
The sixth soul ring beneath his feet gradually took shape—orange-gold!
Golden Words quietly emerged and gave a joyful neigh toward the familiar aura.
Another figure in purple slowly appeared. He was more illusory, and he reached out in confusion, touching the equally dazed Silken Tulip.
In an instant, brilliant light burst forth. A delicate fragrance filled the entire valley, and even the Icefire Yin-Yang Spring trembled, faintly releasing low dragon roars.
Tang Wulin regained his senses and called softly, "Qiluo."
The two figures instantly merged. Green-gold light flashed, cutting through the seven-colored mist that had only just gathered again and leaving behind a distinct dividing line.
The man in purple looked at a loss. "What... is happening?"
Feeling the abundant power and surging soul power within him, Tang Wulin reached out toward the returned Qiluo. A relaxation unlike anything he had felt before appeared on his face. "Long time no see."
Qiluo abruptly raised his head, his eyes widening. Then, trembling, he reached out, seized Tang Wulin's hand, and embraced him. "My Lord!"
The other ferocious beasts, now able to move again, were equally dumbfounded.
Tang Wulin felt a little awkward in his embrace, so he patted Qiluo's shoulder. "All right, all right. Don't make it seem like we've been separated by life and death."
Qiluo released him and said quietly, "It's wonderful to see you again."
Tang Wulin also felt somewhat guilty. "Back then, I should have let you separate."
Qiluo smiled faintly. "No. It was my honor to accompany you until death."
Tang Wulin broke into a smile. "I'm very glad you're back."
Qiluo dropped to one knee. "I'm also very happy to see you again, My Lord."
Qiluo gave his companions a simple, somewhat abridged explanation of what had happened.
Because of Tang Wulin's identity as the Child of Nature, Qiluo's explanation for his transformation was highly convincing.
After bidding farewell to the ferocious beast friends he had known in this life, Qiluo and Tang Wulin set out on the road back to Shrek Academy.
"You never saw Shrek before it was destroyed, did you?" Tang Wulin asked.
Qiluo shook his head. "No."
These ferocious beasts were normally forbidden from leaving the Icefire Yin-Yang Well. Naturally, they could not possibly have gone to Shrek to see the world.
When Qiluo and the others had left the Icefire Yin-Yang Well back then, it had been because Shrek and the Tang Sect had suffered a devastating blow.
Tang Wulin could not help sighing. "It really is nice to have someone who knows the whole story to talk to."
"It seems you've had a hard time these past years as well, My Lord," Qiluo said.
Tang Wulin chuckled. "It's been all right. At least compared to my past life, I'm much more relaxed now."
Qiluo nodded, unable to stop a nostalgic look from appearing on his face. "Back then... it seemed that after I began following you, I never once saw you rest."
Tang Wulin patted his shoulder. "Let's not talk about that. Come on. I'll show you around Shrek."
