Background / History
Shrek had remained the continent's foremost academy for roughly twenty thousand years and traditionally avoided political involvement. Its leadership viewed neutrality as a means of preserving balance, but Tang Wulin argued that neutrality without the power to deter attacks only invited danger. 4
The academy initiated a teacher-and-student exchange with the Douling Empire, its first major outward step in years. The agreement drew Federation controversy, though Shrek publicly characterized it as a normal revival of its exchange tradition. 4 9
Shrek later joined the Federation-led exchange to Star Luo, where its students entered the All-Continent Advanced Soul Master Elite Tournament. Cai Yue'er required Shrek's delegation to win the individual, doubles, and team championships. 11 13
Following the Holy Spirit Cult's Godslayer bombardment of Shrek City, the Golden Ancient Tree sacrificed itself to protect the academy. Its remnants later reformed into the Life Tree during a ceremony supported by Shrek's teachers, students, and Sea God Pavilion elders. 45 49
In response, Yun Ming declared war on the Holy Spirit Cult. Shrek and the Tang Sect then abandoned their long-standing political detachment, entered Federation elections, and secured representation in parliament. 47 49

Traditions and Programs
Shrek Seven Monsters
The Sea God Pavilion selects the Shrek Seven Monsters, who retain their positions for five years but must defend them in an annual challenge tournament. Students under twenty-five from either court may challenge an individual Monster or form a seven-person team to challenge the entire group. 30
| Challenge Format | Condition for Replacement |
|---|---|
| Individual battle | A challenger defeats one current Shrek Seven Monster. 30 |
| Team battle | A seven-person challenger team defeats the complete Shrek Seven Monsters team. 30 |
Pure control-system and food-system Soul Masters receive special tournament rules: rather than defeat an assault-system opponent, they need only endure for twenty minutes. 30
Sea God Fate
Sea God Fate is a long-standing Shrek tradition open to adult inner-court students without partners. It functions as both a partner-selection event and a public showcase of the participants' abilities. 24
Devil Island Military Training
The Shrek Seven Monsters traditionally undergo military training on Devil Island. Leaving the training without authorization is treated as desertion and results in expulsion from the academy. 32 39
Facilities and Institutions
- Sea God Pavilion — Shrek's senior governing body; it selects the Shrek Seven Monsters and directs major academy decisions. 30 48
- Sea God Island — Central academy island formerly sustained by the Golden Ancient Tree; now supported by the Life Tree and a massive flower beneath the island. 49
- Golden Crown — Structure at Shrek's summit, used by Yun Ming and other senior figures. 1 8
- Life Tree — Reborn form of the Golden Ancient Tree after its sacrificial destruction defending Shrek City. 45 49
- Soul Master Academy — Reorganized as an independent department. 50
- Soul Guidance Academy — New department established with the Tang Sect to train specialized soul-guidance talent. 50
- Social Sciences Research Department — New department open to applicants aged eleven to fifteen regardless of family background or cultivation talent. 50
Political Role
Shrek entered Federation politics after the Holy Spirit Cult attack exposed the limits of its former neutrality. Backed by the Tang Sect and allied dovish factions, it fielded candidates for parliamentary seats and became a new political force. 47
To obtain representation, Shrek ceded part of its autonomy and voluntarily disbanded its military forces, while retaining the right to military defense. 47
Luo Guixing's delegation faces continued pressure from entrenched council families, who may attempt to marginalize Shrek once public outrage over the Godslayer attack fades. 48
Internal Reforms
Following the attack and declaration of war, Shrek expanded its recruitment beyond traditional Soul Master education. It began recruiting both students and professional teachers, including retired politicians screened for political independence and lack of ties to the military or Spirit Pagoda. 50
- Student recruitment for the Social Sciences Research Department does not consider family background or cultivation talent. 50
- Applicants can take an online examination before attending a second-round assessment at Shrek. 50
- Shrek covers transportation and lodging expenses for second-round assessment participants. 50
- Tang Wulin, Gu Yue, Xie Xie, and other members assist with recruitment and candidate review. 50
