Background / History

Shrek had remained the continent's foremost academy for roughly twenty thousand years and traditionally avoided political involvement. Its leadership viewed neutrality as a means of preserving balance, but Tang Wulin argued that neutrality without the power to deter attacks only invited danger. 4

The academy initiated a teacher-and-student exchange with the Douling Empire, its first major outward step in years. The agreement drew Federation controversy, though Shrek publicly characterized it as a normal revival of its exchange tradition. 4 9

Shrek later joined the Federation-led exchange to Star Luo, where its students entered the All-Continent Advanced Soul Master Elite Tournament. Cai Yue'er required Shrek's delegation to win the individual, doubles, and team championships. 11 13

Following the Holy Spirit Cult's Godslayer bombardment of Shrek City, the Golden Ancient Tree sacrificed itself to protect the academy. Its remnants later reformed into the Life Tree during a ceremony supported by Shrek's teachers, students, and Sea God Pavilion elders. 45 49
