Dugu Bo resides within a poisonous miasma deep in Sunset Forest, where the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well serves as his means of suppressing the backlash from the serpent venom accumulated in his body. Without the well, he believes his own poison would kill him. 9 10

When Serpent Spear Douluo She Long approaches the miasma and claims the area for Spirit Hall, Dugu Bo refuses to surrender his sanctuary. The two Titled Douluo clash, with Dugu Bo using venom-based attacks and the Jade Phosphor Serpent Emperor against She Long's lightning-infused spear techniques. Neither combatant commits to a fight to the death. 10

A masked Zhang Fei interrupts the battle and identifies Dugu Bo's poisoning condition. In exchange for the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well and three future favors, Zhang Fei offers a method to treat the backlash: transfer the poison into a limb spirit bone, ideally one with poison attributes, then use antidotes to purge the remaining toxins over six months to a year. Dugu Bo accepts the arrangement, retaining temporary access to the well while attempting the treatment. 10 11

Two years later, Dugu Bo attends an imperial banquet in improved health. His complexion is rosier, his eye sockets are no longer deeply sunken, and he appears younger, suggesting that Zhang Fei's method succeeded. He does not recognize Zhang Fei because Zhang Fei wore a mask during their original negotiation. 23
