Background / History

A Holy Spirit Cult branch in the Heaven Dou Empire captured Mu Feng after evil Soul Masters attacked Stone Village. Branch Master Ge Shuo identified Mu Feng as an exceptional twin-Martial-Soul genius and reported the discovery to higher authorities. Long Xiaoyao subsequently exterminated the entire branch, including Ge Shuo, to erase witnesses to Mu Feng’s awakening. 2 3

Ye Xishui declared Mu Feng the Cult’s Holy Son, restricted knowledge of his identity to the Eight Great Elders and higher ranks, and planned to place him inside Shrek Academy as an undercover agent. She personally accepted him as a disciple and implanted a curse in his spiritual sea to ensure his obedience. 4 5

Over the following years, the Cult supplied Mu Feng with pills, secret arts, equipment, and two Soul Sage bodyguards. It trained him for Shrek infiltration through cultivation, intelligence transmission, painting, specialized communication methods, and survival techniques. 6 19

While maintaining his cover as Holy Son, Mu Feng established the Angel Holy Church as a public-facing front for the Cult’s expansion into the three great empires. His stated plan to Zhongli Wu was to use the church to recruit informants and suitable talent for the Holy Spirit Cult; privately, he intended to build an independent power base. 34 38

Zhongli Wu later sent the Soul Douluo Gui Xiao to take control of the church network. Gui Xiao weakened its relief-based doctrines, recruited Soul Masters through material incentives, and turned its villages into underground strongholds. Mu Feng responded by arranging Gui Xiao’s crippling through Bi Ji, then having Electrolux forcibly convert Gui Xiao into an obedient servant. 40 41 48

Using Gui Xiao’s authority, Mu Feng purged dissenting branch masters, halted reckless expansion, and reorganized the Holy Church into a more stable institution. Despite this internal takeover, Zhongli Wu remained convinced through falsified monthly reports that Gui Xiao had marginalized Mu Feng. 49 66 70

Angel Holy Church

The Angel Holy Church was created by Mu Feng as a nominally righteous religious movement and a cover for Holy Spirit Cult expansion. Its public doctrine, relief halls, healing, and material aid were designed to cultivate devout believers and generate Faith Power for Mu Feng. 33 34 38

Under Gui Xiao and Wei Yan, the organization was nearly transformed into a second Holy Spirit Cult: relief halls were abandoned, Soul Masters were recruited with material incentives, and village sites were converted into underground strongholds. This increased membership without strengthening Faith Power, which depends on genuine prayer rather than follower numbers. 41

After regaining control, Mu Feng halted expansion, removed unsuitable evil Soul Masters, improved clergy conditions, and divided church work between clerical staff and combat personnel. 49 66
