Earl Wang Operation

Shrek’s Monitoring Corps arrives at Earl Wang’s manor expecting to capture the earl and an Evil Soul Master from the Holy Spirit Cult. Instead, the manor has already been massacred by Bai Luo in his identity as the Calamity Ancestor 27.

Zhang Lexuan negotiates rather than relying on Shrek’s reputation. She apologizes for Chu Yan’s attack on Bai Luo and offers one million Gold Soul Coins in exchange for Chu Yan’s life. Bai Luo accepts and removes the life-draining sprouts from Chu Yan, though Chu Yan’s cultivation and lifespan remain severely damaged 29.

Chu Yan’s Treatment and Withdrawal

Bai Luo later offers to restore Chu Yan’s lost vitality in exchange for rare life-aspected treasures or spirit medicines worth approximately a Life Gold’s value 31. Zhang Lexuan asks Shrek Academy to provide the resources, but the academy’s leadership delays and ultimately refuses to commit them 32 33.

Chu Yan withdraws from Shrek Academy, while Zhang Lexuan’s faith in the institution is badly damaged. Ma Xiaotao also begins questioning the academy after comparing its conduct unfavorably with the Life Association 33 34.

Recruitment of Huo Yuhao

After learning that Huo Yuhao possesses an Ice God King martial soul, Shrek’s leadership offers him extensive resources and recruitment benefits. Huo Yuhao consults Bai Luo, who advises him to accept the offers while remaining independent 61.

The academy believes that these benefits will secure Huo Yuhao’s loyalty, but Huo Yuhao understands its strategy and deliberately plays along 61.

Ambush in Shrek City

Six assassins attack Bai Luo, Huo Yuhao, and their companions in Shrek City. Shrek’s leaders observe the battle from a distance, intending to intervene if necessary and possibly gain Bai Luo’s goodwill 67 69.

Bai Luo’s group defeats the attackers decisively. When Yan Shaozhe arrives, he apologizes for the academy’s failure to prevent the attack and requests custody of the surviving Soul Emperor. Bai Luo refuses, retaining the prisoner for his own interrogation. He also warns the academy to improve its control of the city 70.

Destruction of the White Tiger Duke’s Estate

After the Life Association destroys the White Tiger Duke’s Estate, Shrek’s elders debate whether Bai Luo or Huo Yuhao may be connected to the attack. Yan Shaozhe warns against making unsupported accusations because Bai Luo’s broad network of allies and saved patients could turn against the academy 77.

Mu En ultimately orders Shrek to avoid involvement without concrete evidence. The academy favors Huo Yuhao over the White Tiger Duke’s Estate because Huo Yuhao is a more valuable potential recruit 78.

Preparatory-Team Selection

Xuanzi organizes a battle royale to select the seven members of Shrek’s preparatory team. Students may form alliances and use any tactics they wish, with only the final seven survivors qualifying 85.
