That Was Shame
"My children."
Guilliman's voice resounded from the Gene-seed of every Ultramarines.
That is the deepest connection between the Primarch and his offspring.
That was the unbreakable blood bond between the Son of War and his legion.
At that moment, all the Ultramarines across the entire Milky Way —those who were fighting, patrolling, or resting—simultaneously stopped what they were doing.
They raised their heads and looked into the void.
Look in the direction from which the sound came.
"Just now, I ran into my mother."
Guilliman's voice continued, calm with a barely perceptible tremor:
"Mother of Macragge."
"The grandmother of the Ultramarines."
The pupils of countless Ultramarines contracted simultaneously.
grandmother?
Do they have a grandmother?
"A hideous Xenos has kidnapped my mother."
Guilliman's voice turned cold:
"Trap her in the cracks of time."
"A full ten thousand years."
At that moment, the entire Milky Way fell silent.
All the Ultramarines fell silent.
That silence was not a quiet silence.
It is the silence before the storm.
It is the silence before a volcanic eruption.
yes--
The silence before the war began.
"Children."
Guilliman's voice rang out for the last time:
"I need a war."
"If I can't win back my mother--"
He paused:
"Then let the Milky Way boil, let the sea of stars burn."
The communication has ended.
But the silence continued.
One second.
Two seconds.
Three seconds.
Then--
The entire Milky Way was in an uproar.
Macragge.
On the training field, Cato Sicarius was sparring with several of his brothers.
His sword was as fast as lightning, his movements as agile as a dragon, and every action he took was filled with absolute confidence.
He is the swordsman of the Ultramarines, one of the Four Heroes, and one of the strongest warriors in the entire legion.
But at that moment, his sword stopped in mid-air.
His body froze.
His eyes were wide open.
That voice resounded within his Gene-seed.
"A damn Xenos..."
"They kidnapped my mother..."
"Your grandmother..."
"A full ten thousand years..."
Cato's hands began to tremble.
The trembling began at the fingertips, spread to the wrist, spread to the arm, spread to—
whole body.
His sword slipped from his hand.
It was stuck in the ground.
It was driven deep into the ground.
The sword hummed, as if it too were angry.
Cato's breathing became heavy.
His face began to turn red.
It's not your average red.
It's red-temperature.
It's that kind of rage to the extreme, that murderous intent to the extreme, that makes you want to rush out right now and tear the enemy to pieces.
red.
"An Xenos..."
His voice was hoarse, like the roar of a wild beast:
"A damn Xenos..."
He raised his head and looked into the void.
Look in that direction--
That's the direction Guilliman is in.
"They kidnapped our grandmother..."
His voice grew louder and louder:
"Imprisoned for ten thousand years..."
His fist slammed hard against the pillar beside him.
The massive stone pillar snapped with a deafening roar.
"Damn it!!!"
His roar echoed throughout the training ground:
"As expected, all Xenos deserve to die, die, die, die--!!!"
The Ultramarines around them were also roaring.
The entire Macragge was roaring.
The roar was deafening.
That anger was enough to burn the stars.
Deep within the endless star field.
Titus stood on the bridge of the Macragge's Honour, gazing out the porthole at the enormous Tyranids Mother.
That was the core of this Hive Fleet, the source of countless Tyranids creatures, and his objective for this mission.
He had been fighting for three days and three nights.
His armor was stained with Tyranids bodily fluids, his sword was dripping with green blood, and his body was covered in wounds.
But he didn't care.
His father had sent him to clean up the swarm of insects.
The father's orders are everything.
He raised his sword, ready to deliver the final blow to the mother insect.
Just then--
That voice resounded within his Gene-seed.
"A hideous Xenos..."
"They kidnapped my mother..."
"Your grandmother..."
"A full ten thousand years..."
Titus's hand froze.
His sword remained suspended in mid-air.
His eyes were wide open.
The Ultramarines behind him also froze.
One second.
Two seconds.
Three seconds.
Then--
Titus's sword pierced the head of the mother worm.
The mother insect let out a shrill scream, and her massive body began to disintegrate.
A terrifying Psychic Shockwave erupted, impacting everything around it.
But Titus did not back down.
He didn't even sense the Psionic Energy.
Because he has the protection of the Primarch within him.
Because in his mind, there was only one thought—
Damn Xenos.
Damn Necrons.
Damn it--
The bastard who kidnapped his grandmother.
Titus swung his sword wildly.
One sword, one sword, and another.
He chopped the remains of the mother insect into pieces.
He chopped the fragment into dust.
The dust, he--
But he still couldn't stop.
His eyes burned with a frenzied killing intent.
A low growl escaped his lips:
"How dare he..."
"How dare he..."
"How dare he?!"
The Ultramarines behind him were also roaring.
The roar echoed in the void.
That anger caused the distant swarm of insects to begin to flee.
Finally, Titus stopped.
He gasped for breath, staring at the mother worm that had been hacked to nothingness.
The madness in his eyes gradually faded.
Instead, there was a cold resolve.
He turned around and looked at his soldiers.
Two hundred and fifty thousand Ultramarines stood neatly behind him.
Their eyes also burned with a cold determination.
