"BOOM—!!!"
A deafening explosion rang through the skies as three gunships became enormous fireballs in midair, their wreckage raining down like a storm.
Guilliman moved through the smoke and flames like an angel delivering final judgment.
Every Chaos Space Marine who escaped the explosions, or who had originally been aboard the other gunships, was instantly and precisely slain by him. None escaped!
As the smoke from the explosions was gradually scattered by the high-altitude winds, all the Ultramarines looked up at the sky.
Macragge's sunlight poured down without obstruction, piercing through the gloom that had once shrouded the land.
And against the backdrop of the clear blue sky and blazing sun—
That majestic figure, four meters tall and clad in azure Fate Armor, floated there in utter stillness.
He seemed to stand within the sun, and yet also seemed to be the sun's incarnation upon the mortal world.
He gazed gently down upon his territory and his loyal sons, his eyes filled with the compassion and resolve of a father god.
After a brief silence came a tidal-wave roar of fervor, converging into a single name that shook the heavens:
"Primarch—!!!" "Primarch—!!!" "Primarch—!!!"
"Father of Genes—!!!"
"Father of Genes—!!!"
The earth-shaking cries of "Father of Genes" echoed through the ruins of the sanctuary, and the burning faith and ecstasy nearly melted the cold steel.
Yet Guilliman, standing at the center of everyone's gaze, showed not the slightest trace of relief on his resolute face. Instead, it was shrouded in profound solemnity.
He basked in the love of his sons, but what rose in his mind was the brutal reality now facing the Five Hundred Worlds of Ultramar.
The Great Rift—that dreadful scar spanning the Milky Way, torn open when Abaddon's Thirteenth Black Crusade smashed the Blackstone Fortress into Cadia—
Had dragged one-third of the Imperium's territory into Chaos's dark side.
His Five Hundred Worlds stood directly in its path, where countless Chaos warbands ran rampant and living beings suffered beyond measure.
He even knew that his brother, the First Primarch Lion El'Jonson, was currently trapped within that dark territory as well.
If only I'd been awakened a decade or so earlier...
Guilliman sighed soundlessly in his heart.
The original Guilliman woke up to face this mess, and now this mess has still landed squarely on my head.
If I'd been revived decades earlier, with a Viltrumite's absurd full-speed flight of twenty billion times the speed of light—
I'd have charged straight into the Eye of Terror and twisted Abaddon's head off to use as a ball!
At the thought of that speed, even Guilliman, now fused with Viltrumite essence, could not help mocking the original comic writers' boldness when assigning numbers.
Twenty billion times the speed of light!
Purely through the physical body!
That meant a Viltrumite needed only one day to cross a distance of more than a hundred thousand light-years!
Compared to that, the dangerous and unstable Warp travel relied upon by the Imperium, and even the Eldar's ancient Webway, seemed as slow as snails crawling.
With such divine speed, he could even traverse every corner of the Milky Way in a single day as though inspecting his own garden.
Of course, he had no interest in doing that, but at the very least, completely purging all Chaos filth within Ultramar was more than manageable for him.
Guilliman slowly descended.
First Company Captain Agemman, Second Company Captain Cato Sicarius, Chapter Master Calgar, Chief Librarian Tigurius, and the other Ultramarines high command immediately gathered around him.
They dropped to one knee, their posture incomparably devout.
Guilliman's gaze first fell upon Calgar. His voice was gentle, yet carried unquestionable authority. "You've worked hard, my son.
"From this point onward, formally hand the Legion's command over to me."
Without the slightest hesitation, Calgar lowered his head and said solemnly, "Of course, Father!
"Our lives and honor belong to you. The Ultramarines will forever heed your summons and leadership!"
"Very good."
Just as Calgar's words fell and the transfer of command was completed on the level of will, a long-absent, cold mechanical voice rang out deep within Guilliman's mind:
[ Ding! You have obtained the highest command authority over the "Ultramarines Chapter." Regency Points +10000. ]
Right, there's also this "Strongest Regent System"! Guilliman suddenly remembered.
The chaos of his awakening and the consecutive battles had made him nearly forget that this thing even existed.
System, what can I exchange Regency Points for right now? he immediately asked in his mind.
In an instant, a faintly glowing list visible only to him appeared before his eyes.
Most of the items on the list bore a distinct "Viltrumite" style:
· Viltrumite Body Repair Pod: As long as the subject is not completely dead, placing them inside has an extremely high chance of restoring them to perfect condition. Price: 50 Regency Points each. · Faster-than-light Engine (Viltrumite Special Edition): Capable of reaching half the cruising speed of a normal Viltrumite, approximately ten billion times the speed of light. Price: 1000 Regency Points each. Blueprint: 5000 Regency Points. · Intra-planetary Instant Teleportation Device: Improved from Earth technology, capable of precise instantaneous teleportation within a single planet. Price: 200 Regency Points per set, covering major strategic locations. An interstellar teleportation network requires a large number of devices connected in parallel.
Further down the list were weapons, shields, energy systems, and other Viltrumite technologies...
Guilliman's heart suddenly lurched!
At the height of their prosperity, Viltrumite technology had stood among the most advanced in the entire universe!
Although their individuals were overwhelmingly powerful and rarely relied on external tools—
Their superbrains and nearly limitless lifespans had allowed them to reach unimaginable heights in scientific research as well.
Faster-than-light engines!
His attention was immediately locked onto this item.
This was technology that even the Emperor had dreamed of obtaining!
With it, the Imperium's warships would be able to truly soar through the star seas of the material universe.
They would completely cast off their dependence on the dangerous Warp, making even the ancient Webway pale by comparison!
One engine costs 1000 points, while the blueprint costs 5000... Its speed is half that of a Viltrumite... which means ten billion times the speed of light?!
"Are you certain that value is ten billion times the speed of light?"
Even though he had prepared himself mentally, Guilliman could not help confirming it once more in his heart.
[Absolutely certain.]
A tremendous surge of excitement swept through Guilliman!
Ten billion times the speed of light!
What kind of concept was that?
If he exchanged for ten engines and installed them on the Legion's main warships—
Then the mobility of the Ultramarines Legion would reach a terrifying level that no enemy—including Chaos, the Eldar, and the Tyranids—could comprehend!
Within the Five Hundred Worlds, if they wished, they could reach any battlefield and provide support within an hour!
This was simply swifter and more reliable than even the most stable psychic teleportation!
