Nature
Chaos is a Warp-born power fed by the emotions, desires, and obsessions of living beings. Its followers corrupt worlds, souls, machines, and institutions to spread its influence into the material universe. The Chaos Gods accept potential servants indiscriminately, provided they possess sufficient emotion, desire, obsession, or psychic potential. 77 462
Chaos is not a unified military force. Its warbands combine Chaos Space Marines, cultists, Beastmen, Orks, daemons, and other forces, often with competing motives and allegiances. Even the Chaos Gods argue over strategy and frequently act in self-interest. 301 337

Influence and Methods
Corruption
Chaos corrupts both individuals and societies by exploiting emotional vulnerabilities.
- Tzeentch’s blessing transformed Commander Farsight by altering his will, perception, destiny, and future, eventually completing his fall into Chaos. 655 656
- Khorne offered Kaine renewed strength in exchange for war and service, reshaping his body, armor, and weapon with Chaos marks. 455
- Seraphax accepted blessings from all four gods despite suspecting ulterior motives, prioritizing the power to kill enemies and destroy the Imperium. 302
Warp Contamination
Chaos-infested worlds are physically and spiritually transformed.
- Calixis Prime’s corruption produced corrosive blood rain, Chaos mycelium that consumed metal, enslaved laborers, and sacrificial altars. 77
- Chaos-tainted rain weakened Smart Atom fields and interfered with the enhanced Ultramarines’ flight and endurance. 77 78
- Chaos ritual chains can suppress genetic power, as seen when a Vermilion Angel was bound with runic restraints. 301
Daemonic Warfare
Chaos deploys daemons, Greater Daemons, Daemon Princes, and empowered mortal champions as its military force.
- Chaos forces attacked Macragge with Black Legion, Night Lords, Khorne-blessed fanatics, and Chaos warships during Guilliman’s revival. 3
- Kairos Fateweaver summoned a large force of Tzeentch daemons from an expanding labyrinth manifestation. 120
- The Chaos Gods’ weapons can strike laws, causality, and the foundations of existence rather than merely physical bodies. 528
Temporal and Warp Nature
Once a Chaos God is born, it exists across past, present, and future timelines. The Emperor exploited this property by drawing upon the gods’ future existence to forge the Primarchs, making the resulting “debt” unavoidable across all timelines. 458
Major Events
- Attack on Macragge: Chaos Space Marines invaded the Macragge Sanctum during the attempt to revive Roboute Guilliman. Their assault was ultimately annihilated after Guilliman awakened. 3 8
- Corruption of Calixis Prime: A Warp-corrupted forge world became a Chaos industrial stronghold before Guilliman purged its contamination. 77 80
- Vashtorr’s failed ascension: Vashtorr attempted to ascend using the souls of fallen Dark Angels. Guilliman forced the Chaos Gods to choose between defending their realms and saving Vashtorr; the Emperor then erased Vashtorr completely. 333 337
- Birth of the sixth Chaos God: Tyranid souls were consumed in the Warp, igniting a sixth point on the Eight-Pointed Star and producing Greed Dissolution, the Primordial Mother Goddess. 597 598
- Battle against the Primordial Mother: Guilliman became the vessel of the Emperor’s sword and struck the newborn goddess with golden flames. He later used Black Flash, a fusion of psychic power and material laws, to shatter her body further. 605 609
- The Emperor’s Warp offensive: Empowered by the destruction generated during Guilliman’s crusade, the Emperor projected into the Warp and drove back multiple Chaos Gods with golden flame and his blade. 674 675
