In the sky, the scent of corpses attracted the attention of Winged Wyverns. However, with Luo Yun and Ya Ji present, they dared not descend immediately to partake in the meal. They could only remain quietly in the nearby treetops, their eyes constantly fixed on the scene below.

Compared to the cautious Winged Wyverns, the Abomination Birds, which subsisted on corpses, had no such reservations. They circled overhead in flocks.

Their small size, poor flesh quality, and preference for carrion meant they were not on the menu for most large Wyvern Species like Fire Dragons. This was why they dared to linger openly in the sky.

Ya Ji leisurely savored the best parts of the Herbivore Dragon meat. Luo Yun, having eaten his fill, observed their surroundings with a touch of boredom. Based on past experience, no foolhardy creature would dare provoke two Fire Dragons.

Sticking out his tongue, he coiled it around a Great Honeycomb Bug that was passing by leisurely, slurping the green honey. Watching the Great Honeycomb Bug flee in impotent rage, Luo Yun slowly lowered himself, burying his body in the tall grass to fully enjoy the sunlight.

The grass was dense, and the battle that had occurred in the distance had not affected this area. These tall weeds concealed Luo Yun's body. Unless one was close or looking down from the sky, the view would be obstructed by the grass and ferns from a slight distance, revealing only a small patch of protruding red spine.

"Caw!"

A panicked cry suddenly sounded, and Luo Yun instinctively turned his head warily in the direction of the sound.

A large yellow bird with brightly colored feathers on its head and outer forearms, possessing a large beak, emerged from the distant forest. It clutched a grayish-white dragon egg in its claws, its mouth open, tongue extended, and panting heavily.

Its shifty eyes were filled with fear, and its panicked, unthinking flight suggested something terrifying was chasing it. Due to the distance and angle, and the tall grass of the season, it hadn't noticed Luo Yun and Ya Ji at first.

The Scratch Bird, known in the underworld as the Kulu-Ya-Ku.

It was famous for its flamboyant appearance, low combat power, and its ecological habit of stealing dragon eggs.

As a devoted dragon egg enthusiast, it even dared to risk being beaten to death to steal eggs from a Fire Dragon couple from the upper levels of the Ancient Tree, all for a taste of different delicacies.

As a notorious thief on the New World, despite its timid nature, which matched its appearance, its actions were exceptionally bold.

Every day, it was either stealing eggs or on its way to steal eggs.

Judging by its current state, the Scratch Bird had clearly been discovered stealing an egg and was now being pursued. Yes, this was a routine part of the Scratch Bird's daily life.

Luo Yun was curious, though. Whose egg had this creature stolen this time?

Soon, Luo Yun's curiosity was answered.

Two Diablos roared as they burst from the forest, relentlessly pursuing the Scratch Bird. They also failed to notice the two Fire Dragons, their eyes solely fixed on the accursed Scratch Bird.

Although the Scratch Bird was not slow, it was hindered by the need to protect the egg, preventing it from widening the distance in a short time.

As a renowned "walking chicken," the Scratch Bird could only evade through its agile movements and powerful jumping ability. While its situation appeared dangerous, it wouldn't be in real trouble for the moment.

However, the scene was quite comical.

A magnificent large creature was being chased everywhere by a small creature, even being unable to fight back.

Across the entire New World, only the Scratch Bird could pull this off.

Luo Yun watched the scene with schadenfreude, completely forgetting that not long ago, in this very forest, a newly hatched Sky Reaver had been chased for a long distance like a walking chicken simply for opening its mouth and letting out a cry.

Undeniably, the Scratch Bird provided excellent comedic effect. Even Ya Ji stopped chewing and, like Luo Yun, lay down, concealed by the grass, watching the spectacle with delighted eyes.

With a "thump," after a beautiful high jump, the landing Scratch Bird misjudged its footing and stumbled, instinctively releasing its foreclaws.

The Diablos egg fell to the ground with a crisp sound, its contents spilling everywhere.

The Scratch Bird stared blankly at its empty claws, then at the completely shattered egg, its expression one of disbelief.

Finally, its gaze fell upon the Diablos couple, whose eyes were red and seemed on the verge of spitting fire.

"Caw!"

A hoarse cry, filled with three parts anger and seven parts resentment, escaped the Scratch Bird's beak. The Kulu-Ya-Ku spread its claws with bright feathers and roared continuously at the Diablos couple.

This, however, completely bewildered the Diablos couple.

Wait, you broke my egg, and you're acting angrier than me?

Fortunately, the Diablos couple weren't particularly bright. They were merely startled by the Scratch Bird's sudden abnormal behavior. The next second, rage consumed their brains again, and they charged at the Scratch Bird, their heads lowered.

This time, perhaps without the burden of the egg, the Scratch Bird no longer fled.

After a small hop to dodge the Diablos' charge, it pecked at the ground with its large beak, quickly locating a suitable stone.

Its forelimbs dug into the ground rapidly, and within moments, it unearthed a hard stone about the size of the dragon egg.

All of this happened in less than five seconds.

At this moment, the charging Diablos couple had already reached the Scratch Bird.

Legend has it that when the Scratch Bird held a stone, it even dared to confront an Ancient Dragon.

While the reality differed slightly from the legend, it was true that it dared to face a Horned Dragon, though the outcome was usually being taught a lesson and its eyes becoming incredibly clear.

Holding the stone, the Scratch Bird leaped high and, with fierce eyes, hurled the stone at the heavily armored head of a Diablos.

The stone collided with the keratinous hide, producing a dull thud. The Scratch Bird was jolted by the immense recoil, the stone in its grasp flying off. It let out a strange cry and hopped back several steps, dodging the headbutt charge of the other Diablos.

The stone flew far away, and the Scratch Bird was back to its original state. Even though the Diablos it had hit with the stone had fainted and fallen to the ground, its anger, caused by the broken egg, vanished with the departure of the stone.

The momentum it had managed to build dissipated quickly, and it panicked, intending to dig for another stone.

"Hmph!"

The tips of the swaying grass tickled its nose, causing it to sneeze uncontrollably.

The Scratch Bird's gaze shifted, and it immediately spotted the two large Fire Dragons lying in the grass.

"Caw!!"

The Scratch Bird leaped up in a flurry of panic. All thoughts of fighting spirit or reclaiming its egg vanished instantly!

It turned and bolted towards the forest, its long tail whipping wildly as it ran at full speed.

I'm not satisfied with today's second chapter. I've deleted some parts and am revising them. It might be released a bit later, so please bear with me.
