Background / History

Venus Star Lord is a long-serving Heavenly Court civil official who has served for more than ten thousand years. Though he holds high office, he is politically isolated as a notable “lone official,” with relatively few dependable allies. He is aligned with Heavenly Master Xu but faces open opposition from Star Lord Wenqu, who condemns his earlier attempt to pacify Sun Wukong as weak and humiliating for Heaven. 3 8 21

Su Yuan approaches Taibai as his benefactor and offers him a storage pouch to cultivate his support. Taibai accepts it after initially questioning its meaning, promises Su Yuan a deputy-envoy role if a recruitment mission arises, and backs him against Wang Lingguan. He nevertheless warns Su Yuan that cultivation—not money—is what ultimately commands respect in the Heavenly Court. 6

After the Heavenly Court’s military campaign against Sun Wukong falters, Taibai’s standing changes abruptly. The Jade Emperor appoints him Envoy for Pacification and Suppression, placing him at the center of the renewed effort to handle the demon monkey. He immediately orders Su Yuan to draft the pacification structure: a task-force office and six working groups covering negotiations, intelligence, security, legal documentation, ceremonial outreach, and logistics. 7

Taibai personally oversees the repeated revision of Su Yuan’s appeasement plan with four trusted aides, Zhao, Qian, Sun, and Li. When Star Lord Wenqu manipulates Su Yuan’s promotion score to favor his own disciple, Dou Yin, Taibai cannot defeat Wenqu directly.
