The defense line construction team arrived early the next morning.
Sitting atop a black rock, Lynn spotted a row of black dots appearing on the horizon from far away.
Those dots gradually grew larger, becoming mana trucks loaded with supplies, followed by several armored vehicles with mana cannons mounted on their roofs.
The convoy stopped at the edge of the defense zone, and dozens of people jumped down from the vehicles.
There were Wizards in gray robes, warriors in leather armor, and engineers wearing thick work uniforms.
It felt strangely out of place, like a Western fantasy construction crew.
The leader was a second-ring Wizard in his forties, bald, wearing thick glasses and holding a folder in his hand.
He walked up to Lynn, looked him over, then glanced at the nameplate on Lynn's chest. After confirming his identity, he bowed.
"Lord Lynn? I am Harding, the person in charge of the defense line construction team. I have been ordered to establish defensive fortifications in the eastern sector of the Third Defense Zone."
Lynn jumped down from the black rock and brushed the dust from his clothes.
"You've worked hard. I've already cleared the defense zone. There are no living creatures for three hundred li from east to west. With my undead guarding the area, you can construct without worry."
Harding opened his folder, which contained a map of the Third Defense Zone's terrain.
He looked at the map, then raised his head to inspect the surrounding wasteland and pushed up his glasses.
"Three hundred li is no small area. We will need at least a week to complete the basic fortifications."
"Walls, watchtowers, mana cannon positions, as well as supply depots and rest areas."
Lynn nodded.
"A week. I can wait."
Harding closed the folder and hesitated before asking.
