In the Goblin World, Gregor stood on the rocks of Death Island and took one last look at the Rule Net in the sky.
Three thousand chains were still turning slowly, each one glowing.
Each of the three thousand laws had its own merits. His eyes were swimming from looking at them, yet he refused to blink.
He was afraid that if he blinked, the net would be gone when he opened his eyes again.
"Mentor, let's go."
Lynn stood behind him.
Gregor lowered his head and rubbed his neck, moving slowly as though stalling for time.
Only after a while did he speak, sounding somewhat embarrassed.
"Lynn, I'd like to move my laboratory here and stay on this island for a while."
Lynn frowned.
"Stay here? Mentor, the energy concentration here is too low. Cultivating here would be nowhere near as effective as in the Eternal Night Graveyard."
"I don't need a high energy concentration." Gregor waved a hand. "What I lack now is insight into laws."
"Your Stigmata Domain has a ready-made net of myriad phenomena laws, with every law connected to another. One look at that net gives me more insight than ten years of secluded study."
Lynn's brow remained furrowed.
"But this is still a Stigmata Domain. If I get into a fight and an enemy breaks into it, you'll be in danger here."
Gregor smiled.
"I'm not afraid, so what are you worried about? Besides, your place is much safer than anywhere else. If you get into a fight, just give me a heads-up and I'll go back to the Academy."
"It's not as if you fight every day. I'll come here while you're at the Academy, and go back when you leave on a mission. I don't mind the hassle."
