At the entrance to the Bone Vault, Lynn raised his right hand, golden light glowing in his palm.
Light poured from his palm and fell over An Li, forming a thin film around her body.
An Li was an ordinary person, after all. This film would protect her from the various auras of death, Undead Power, and contamination inside Death Island when she entered.
Warmth spread through An Li's body as the deathly aura of the Eternal Night Graveyard was kept outside.
Color returned to her pale face, her brow relaxed, and the corners of her mouth lifted slightly.
"Thank you, Uncle." An Li's voice was a little louder than before.
Lynn withdrew his hand. "Let's go. I'll take you to see my mentor."
He raised his right hand, and grayish-white light poured from his palm, enveloping all three of them.
When the light faded, they were standing on Death Island's blackened earth.
Three thousand Rule Chains hung from the depths of the grayish-white sky, every one of them glowing.
Field had yet to advance to Formal Wizard and could not see the Rule Net, much less An Li.
Field took her by the hand and headed toward the church.
The church had black walls and a pointed roof, and the statue atop it was still glowing.
As Field pulled An Li along, she craned her neck, her eyes still fixed on the enormous statue on the roof.
"Father, look! Uncle is glowing!"
Field rapped her hard on the head.
"Quiet! Don't talk nonsense!"
The church doors stood open, and the instruments inside were neatly arranged.
Gregor crouched before a workbench, completely absorbed. He held a petri dish containing a churning mass of grayish-white mist.
