Lynn walked out of the Dreamweaving Gallery, with Basso and Sim following respectfully behind him, one on either side.
As he walked, Lynn took a list from his sleeve. It contained a string of names and communication frequencies.
Behind those names lay the network Marfa had cultivated over many years-a considerable pool of resources.
"Take this."
Lynn handed the list to Basso.
"Contact these people. Book a place at the Black Reef Restaurant in the Ghost Market tonight, and have them all come."
"If anyone is outside the Academy and can't make it back, have them visit the Dreamweaving Gallery when they return. I'll meet them personally."
Basso took the list and glanced over it, his pupils visibly contracting. Sim leaned over for a look, and his expression shifted several times as well.
The two exchanged a glance. Naturally, they understood what this list meant.
These were all Marfa's former subordinates, as well as their colleagues, who held positions in various departments of the Academy.
Lynn clearly intended to bring these people under his control.
But was it wise to gather them all so openly? Would it put the Academy and the other wizard factions on guard?
"My lord, these are all Marfa's former subordinates." Basso looked around before lowering his voice.
"Quite a few still hold positions in the Academy's departments. Wouldn't it be rather unwise to gather them all so openly?"
"Just do as I say." Lynn kept walking.
Basso and Sim exchanged a glance, each seeing the gravity in the other's eyes.
But they raised no further objections. Since Lynn had arranged things this way, he must have had his reasons.
Basso put the list away and hurried forward a couple of steps. "I'll notify them right away. I'll book the restaurant myself."
