Background / History

Gaga began life as an ordinary raven in the Silent Mountains. While foraging in an unexplored valley, it ate a brilliant red fruit and endured a near-fatal transformation. It emerged with coherent thought, drastically enhanced perception, tremendous speed and strength, blade-like feathers, and the ability to enlarge itself. Its new intelligence soon alienated it from its flock; after refusing the chief's dangerous order and effortlessly defending itself from him, Gaga was denounced as a monster and driven away. 88 89

Living alone, Gaga observed human settlements from a distance and gave itself the name “Gaga.” A terrifying encounter with a black-robed human made it wary of people, but after being gravely wounded while fighting a giant bird, it was found and treated by Ian Marcus. Recognizing Ian's loneliness as similar to its own, Gaga accepted an equal Familiar contract rather than a master-servant bond. Ian began calling it “Mynah,” despite Gaga's objections. 89

Ian later helped Gaga fuse its conflicting Windshadow Crow and Shadow Night bloodlines, allowing it to become a First-Order Extraordinary Creature and awaken as a Shadow Nightjar. Their contract repeatedly enabled Ian to stabilize Gaga's dangerous breakthroughs, while Gaga became Ian's concealed trump card in combat, scouting, and infiltration. 97 104

Appearance

Gaga's appearance changes considerably with its growth and size-shifting talent. Its later forms are defined by dark, shadow-absorbing feathers, silver-gray eyes, and patterns formed by concentrated shadow energy.
