Background / History

Tang San lived in Holy Soul Village with his father, Tang Hao, and was brought by Village Head Jack to awaken his martial soul. Although Su Yuntao dismissed Blue Silver Grass as a “trash martial soul,” Tang San’s crystal-ball test revealed Innate Full Soul Power. Lin Yang privately witnessed Tang San’s second martial soul, the Clear Sky Hammer. 1

Jack secured Tang San and Lin Yang work-study places at Notting City Junior Spirit Master Academy. At the academy gate, Yu Xiaogang recognized Tang San’s unusually high soul power and concluded that he possessed twin martial souls. Tang San initially viewed Yu favorably for helping them enter, but became alert when Yu revealed this knowledge. 2

Yu Xiaogang later asked to become Tang San’s teacher. Tang San was about to agree before Lin Yang pulled him away, calling Yu’s reasoning a guess meant to deceive children. 3

During the period at the academy, Yu Xiaogang volunteered to help Tang San and Lin Yang hunt spirit rings, but was killed by a Mandala Snake. Five years later, Tang San had reached Level 29 and travelled with Xiao Wu and Lin Yang to Soto City, intending to go to Shrek Academy. 4
