Background / History

Tang San monitored the lower realm from the Divine Realm and had arranged for Snow Girl to be transformed into an embryo through a contingency. When Snow Girl instead triggered a Heavenly Tribulation, he recognized that his plan had failed and rushed to the Divine Realm Committee. 28 29

Seeking to defend Shrek's position during the tribulation, Tang San sent Sea God's Divine Power into the tribulation clouds. Shadow Twin Scythes shattered his Sea God's Trident, severed his right arm, and inflicted an injury that left him castrated. The damage to his arm was severe enough that it could no longer be used for combat. 30 31 75

Unable to directly manage events in the lower realm, Tang San descended through Tang Yin and assumed command of Shrek's tournament team. He concealed his identity by claiming to be Wang Dong'er's elder brother, demanded Shrek win the championship, and focused his intelligence gathering on Xuan Xiao and Hurricane Giant Tower. 88 89

As Tang Yin, he suffered repeated public setbacks. The Golden-haired Lion Mastiff defeated him after he detonated all seven of his soul rings, while Tang Wulin later humiliated him in a forging contest. Tang San also altered Wang Dong's memories after she became suspicious of Tang Yin's true identity. 93 109 116

Xuan Xiao publicly exposed Tang Yin as Sea God Tang San, an outsider from another world. Tang San responded by manifesting Sea God's Divine Power, but Xuan Xiao defeated the avatar with a single punch; the later Sea God Clan attack was rendered futile because Tang Yin had already been blown apart. 164 165 169

In the Divine Realm, Tang San attempted to seize the Seed of Creation so that he could control Creation Power and rule the God Realm. The newly born Goddess of Creation repelled him, after which Xuan Xiao exposed Tang San's alleged division of Tang Wutong's soul into three parts to pursue control over Douluo Continent's Plane's Child. 193 194 195

The God of Destruction, Ji Dong, Lie Yan, and Xuan Xiao rejected Tang San's claim that sacrificing his daughter was necessary to protect the continent. After the God of Destruction severely wounded him, Xuan Xiao purified Tang San with the power of Justice, stripping away his sin and cultivation while leaving him a chance at eventual reincarnation. 195 196 197

Personality

Tang San is highly controlling and treats people around him as tools for broader plans. He viewed Wang Dong'er as a means of controlling Huo Yuhao, descended personally when Huo Yuhao's circumstances deviated from his expectations, and altered Wang Dong's memories to preserve his cover. 88 116

He is also prideful and reacts violently to humiliation or resistance. The destruction of his trident, the failure of his plans, and repeated defeats by Hurricane Tower's forces provoke rage, jealousy, and desperation. 30 93 165

When confronted over Tang Wutong, Tang San justifies his actions as necessary for Douluo Continent's security and his goal of becoming Plane Lord. Xuan Xiao and the other gods reject this reasoning as greed concealed beneath selflessness. 195 196
