That young guy on the other side had no experience either. It was probably his first battle, and he was nervous too, even giving a wrong command once. If Liu Bin had lost to him, he really would have had no face left.
After winning, Liu Bin became incredibly smug and scooped up Shinx for a thorough petting.
"Ha ha, I'm seriously too strong. I beat my opponent with ease."
Jiang Jing said from the side, "Heh, what's there to be happy about after beating a fifteen-year-old middle schooler?"
Liu Bin scoffed. "Tch, what do you know? How about we have a battle too?"
Jiang Jing glanced at the dust-covered Shinx and said, "How are you going to battle me when your Shinx hasn't recovered its stamina yet? Besides, I don't think you're my opponent."
"I'm telling the truth. Don't tell me you don't believe me."
Liu Bin was instantly annoyed. "Damn, where did you get that confidence? Hmph, once my Shinx recovers, I'll show you what I can do."
Jiang Jing merely smiled without speaking. He'd find out soon enough.
Ten minutes later, once Shinx had mostly recovered its stamina, the battle between Liu Bin and Jiang Jing officially began.
Before the match, Liu Bin declared, "Jing, I won't go easy on you. If you lose too badly, don't cry."
Jiang Jing couldn't help curling his lips into a crooked smile. "You?"
"Just start already."
"Fine."
Jiang Jing said to Aron beside him, "Go, Aron. Show them what you can do."
Aron nodded seriously, then trotted in front of Jiang Jing. Across from him, Shinx faced Aron with a cocky expression. Its earlier victory had filled it with confidence, and it bared its fangs as it taunted Aron.
"Shinx, use Tackle!" Liu Bin gave the first command and launched the attack.
"Aron, we'll use Tackle too." Jiang Jing was no slower.
Shinx and Aron burst forward at the same time, driving every muscle in their bodies as they charged at each other.
Just before they collided, they leaped into the air, their muscles tightening into a single mass as they slammed fiercely toward one another.
Bang!
Shinx let out a cry of pain and was sent flying, rolling several times across the ground and getting covered in dust.
Liu Bin's smile instantly turned into a look of panic. "Holy crap, what happened? Shinx, are you okay?"
As for Aron, it was only pushed back a few steps by the recoil and was completely unharmed.
Looking at Shinx lying on the ground, it tilted its head in confusion. Little bro, what happened? Why did you go down the moment I put in some strength?
Jiang Jing said, "Are we still fighting? Your Shinx doesn't look like it can keep going."
Liu Bin refused to believe it. "I don't believe the gap between us is that huge. Shinx, get up and keep using Leer!"
Shinx climbed back to its feet and glared furiously at Aron, yellow light shining from its eyes.
But Aron had no reaction at all. It only found it strange.
Shinx's Leer had no effect on Aron.
At only Level 7, Shinx most likely knew only Tackle and Leer, and it was clear that it had not mastered either move very well.
"Aron, use Tackle!"
Liu Bin shouted, "Shinx, use Tackle too!"
The two Pokémon collided once more. Shinx's injuries were clearly rather severe, and its speed had slowed until it was nearly the same as Aron's.
Bang!
This time, the result was still unchanged. Shinx was sent flying again, letting out a pained cry before falling to the ground.
Liu Bin ran over worriedly, picked Shinx up, and carefully checked its whole body. There were no serious injuries.
It had merely been knocked unconscious. When it woke up, it cried out pitifully and aggrievedly, melting Liu Bin's heart.
Then he said to Jiang Jing, "You bastard, why did you hit so hard? You hurt Shinx. It hurts my heart to see it like this."
Jiang Jing spread his hands helplessly. "I didn't expect your Shinx to be this weak. I told you that you weren't my opponent, but you wouldn't believe me."
"By the way, do you want to take Shinx to the Pokémon Center? Just in case something's wrong."
After thinking for a moment, Liu Bin said, "How did you train your Aron? It's actually this strong?"
"We should still go to the Pokémon Center, just to be safe."
The two of them hurried out of Battle Park and headed for the Pokémon Center.
There happened to be a Pokémon Center right next to Battle Park, so they did not have to go far to find one.
The Pokémon Center was much like the ones from the anime in his previous life: a hotel that combined medical care, dining, and lodging.
Generally, only Trainers stayed at Pokémon Centers, mainly because they were expensive.
The cheapest single room cost 500 yuan per night, roughly the same as a five-star hotel in a third- or fourth-tier city.
But you got what you paid for, and the quality was quite good. Jiang Jing had only seen others talk about it online; he had never actually stayed in one himself.
Usually, only Trainers chose to stay at Pokémon Centers, and treatment there cost money too. It was not cheap.
The Pokémon Center's exterior was quite different from that of an ordinary hotel. The whole building looked like a sphere embedded in the ground, colored in pale blue and white, with a ring covering the upper part of the sphere.
Upon entering the Pokémon Center, the first thing they saw was a front desk staffed by three receptionists in light-blue suits. Every one of them was above average in looks.
Before Liu Bin could even speak after walking up, one of the receptionists asked first, "Hello, how may I help you?" She wore a smile as she spoke, enunciated clearly, and looked directly at him, making an excellent impression.
Liu Bin suddenly began to stammer. "I-I'm here to get my Pokémon checked."
The receptionist raised her right hand, palm upward, and gestured to the right. "The treatment center is over there, on the right."
Liu Bin hurriedly said, "Thank you!"
The receptionist smiled. "You're welcome."
Then he turned and walked toward the right with Jiang Jing.
As they walked, Jiang Jing said, "Why are you nervous? Do you get nervous whenever you see a pretty girl?"
Liu Bin protested, "I'm warning you, that's slander! You're slandering me! How could I possibly be nervous? I just suddenly needed to use the bathroom."
"Let's hurry over. Shinx still needs to be checked."
After walking about ten meters along the left side, they saw another front desk. There were only two receptionists here, along with a Chansey.
Jiang Jing scanned it with Data Eye.
Pokémon: Chansey Type: Normal Talent: ★ Level: LV36 Ability: Natural Cure ...
Its level was average, neither high nor low, just right. And just like in the anime, Chansey was standard equipment at Pokémon Centers.
Liu Bin stepped forward and asked, "Hello, I'd like to have my Shinx checked."
The receptionist in the pink uniform said, "Please leave your Poké Ball with us. We'll arrange the examination. Sir, you'll need to register here, and we'll notify you once the results are ready."
Liu Bin handed Shinx's Poké Ball to the receptionist, who then passed it to Chansey. Chansey turned and walked through the large door behind them.
