Background

Jiang Jing grew up in an ordinary family in Rongcheng. His parents were able to support his Spirit Studies education, but no Trainer had emerged from his family before him; his grandparents had been farmers, and earlier generations lacked both the money and opportunity to pursue Trainer careers. 6 144

During high school, Jiang Jing discovered the Colorful Currents within his body. Their appearance coincided with rapid physical development, increased strength, and the improvement of Aron’s talent from two stars to three. 19 He began building his reputation through disciplined training, practical battles, and his ability to turn limited resources into rapid team growth.

Appearance

Jiang Jing is notably handsome, tall, and athletically built. By age eighteen, he stood 185 cm barefoot with a defined six-pack and little excess body fat; later descriptions place him at 188 cm. 175 305

  • Refined facial structure, fair skin, and a cool, noble bearing. 132
  • Usually wears dark athletic clothing, including black tracksuits, T-shirts, and sportswear. 132 305
  • Often styles his hair in a textured fringe or a neat seven-to-three part. 175 305
  • His exceptional looks and public battle record have made him a frequent target of fan attention. 156 475

Personality

Jiang Jing is calm, competitive, and highly self-assured. He rarely panics under pressure, whether facing biased assessors, stronger opponents, wilderness criminals, or high-stakes tournament battles. 90 388 390 His confidence can become provocative—he openly predicts victories and responds sharply to arrogant opponents—but he usually backs those claims with overwhelming results. 331 371

Despite his reputation, he remains practical about training and resources. He studies contracts before signing them, uses his wealth primarily to strengthen his Pokémon, and constantly searches for better training methods and rare materials. 127 223 527 He also shows compassion toward injured Pokémon and people in need, treating wounded wild Pokémon and anonymously donating supplies to an orphanage. 145 511

Abilities & Skills

Data Eye

Jiang Jing possesses Data Eye, an information-gathering ability that identifies Pokémon, items, talents, levels, Abilities, and moves.

  • Scans opposing Pokémon before battles to identify weaknesses and shape battle plans. 110 230
  • Identifies valuable Evolution Stones, Plate fragments, Mega Stones, and other hidden treasures. 152 355 620
  • Detected an ultra-miniature locator hidden on his backpack in the Taklamakan Desert. 390
  • Allows him to verify rare items and avoid fraudulent trades. 341

Colorful Currents

Colorful Currents are mysterious energies that emerge from Jiang Jing’s body and can be guided into himself or his Pokémon.

  • Enhanced Jiang Jing’s physique, appearance, height, and general physical fitness. 19
  • Raised Aron’s talent and later improved the talents and levels of several Pokémon. 19 190 315
  • Can be converted into other forms of power, including Aura. 235

Aura

Jiang Jing developed Aura under Lin Tianyi’s guidance after converting Colorful Currents into Aura energy. 235

  • Enables closer synchronization and training with Riolu and later Lucario. 226 235
  • Can be used to manipulate objects, such as lifting and storing treasures without direct contact. 519
  • Provides a layer of protection against psychic interference. 230 231

Physical Combat

Jiang Jing possesses extraordinary natural strength and durability, later refined through Bajiquan, Hung Gar, Horse Stance training, and other martial disciplines at Tianyi Dojo. 191 226

  • Defeated the Psychic Zhou Xin in direct combat while resisting repeated Confusion attacks. 231
  • Can overwhelm trained martial artists through raw force, even before fully mastering formal techniques. 191
  • Incapacitates criminals quickly in wilderness confrontations and has fought alongside his Pokémon in dojo-format battles. 267 298
  • His physical fitness is close enough to Lin Tianyi’s that he can keep pace with the veteran Extreme Path Style master during wilderness travel. 459

Nature Control

Jiang Jing began studying Nature Control under Lin Tianyi, a difficult discipline requiring meditation and an item carrying legendary power. 442

  • Later combined Nature Control with the Thunder Plate to empower Electivire against Ji Changkong’s Naganadel. 582
  • Treats the technique as a long-term path toward confronting Legendary Pokémon. 442

Trainer Strategy

Jiang Jing combines scouting, type matchups, move timing, environmental use, Mega Evolution, and Z-Moves rather than relying only on raw power.

  • Used Data Eye and Lairon’s overwhelming Tackle to clear multiple midterm assessments with one move each. 110
  • Adapted his lineup by fielding Gengar instead of Lairon against Qu Ying’s Serperior. 178
  • Uses Mega Evolution and Z-Moves in elite-level combat, including Continental Crush with Aggron. 357 386
  • Coordinated simultaneous Z-Moves from his team to defeat the Miao Brothers’ combined force. 463
