Jiang Jing said indifferently, "We'll be waiting. Get lost and go line up."
After the fat guy left, still grumbling and cursing, Liu Bin said, "Tch, isn't he just relying on being fat? He thinks that means he can cut in line. What a joke. Does he even know what era this is?"
After they got inside, Liu Bin lowered his head and asked worriedly, "Brother Jing, that fat guy isn't going to bring people over to beat us up, is he?"
Jiang Jing glanced at him. "That wasn't the attitude you had just now. You're backing down already?"
Liu Bin chuckled. "There were so many people watching. Wouldn't it have been too embarrassing if I'd acted scared?"
Jiang Jing said, "Alright, people like that only bully the weak and fear the strong. If he dares bring people to beat us up, he'd better first see whether he has what it takes."
Liu Bin said, "True. I forgot that you used to study martial arts and freestyle fighting, Brother Jing."
"Oh, right. It seems like our sophomore year PE classes will start teaching martial arts and Fighting too. I should study it properly when the time comes."
Liu Bin was right. Jiang Jing had indeed studied martial arts and freestyle fighting before. During summer vacations, Jiang's Mother and Jiang's Father had felt that staying home all day wasn't ideal, so they arranged for him to train at martial arts gyms run by relatives and friends.
Over the years, he had only reached the level of an amateur enthusiast, but combined with his current physical condition, taking on a few ordinary people would not be a problem.
Now that humanity's limits had been broken, traditional martial arts had begun to burst forth with new vitality. In this world, traditional martial arts were no joke—they were the real deal, not something like Lightning Five-Strike Whip.
Jiang Jing seemed to have some impression of the guy from earlier. He appeared to be a senior year student, one of those "bosses" from his previous life who had gained some fame by using his fat body to gain an advantage in fights.
But that was all. He had not feared people like that in his previous life, much less now.
The class assignment list had been uploaded to the class group chat two days ago.
A total of nineteen students from their Grade 10 Class 3 had chosen Spirit Studies, making it the class with the highest number of students entering the program. The other classes only had around ten each.
Jiang Jing, Liu Bin, Cheng Cheng, and Yao Yuan had somehow all been assigned to the same class.
The class assignments for Spirit Studies each year were determined by the number of students who chose the program, but the general trend was that there were more and more students every year.
The previous cohort had 513 students choose Spirit Studies, divided into roughly thirteen classes.
There were even more students this year—565 of them, split into fourteen classes. No. 8 High School really did have a huge student body. Even if each class only had around ten students choosing Spirit Studies, there were still more than five hundred in total.
Jiang Jing and the others had been assigned to Grade 11 Class 9. No. 8 High School's assignment system was said to distribute students according to their overall academic performance, mainly based on their average scores from the Midterm Exam and final exam.
The grades of each class could not differ too greatly, or it would be unfair to the other students.
However, the Pokémon-related knowledge taught in sophomore year involved practical combat.
Everyone's strength was different. It was said that by senior year, the gaps between students would become extraordinarily large.
There would be another class reassignment then, and some students would give up Spirit Studies and return to the liberal arts or sciences track.
The remaining students would be ranked by their results, and the strongest students would be gathered into a separate elite class to make a full push for prestigious national universities.
The two of them first returned to the dormitory, packed up their luggage and bedding, and moved into the Spirit Studies dormitory.
No. 8 High School had been expanding continuously over the past few years, and the main areas of expansion were all for Spirit Studies, such as the New Dormitory and new teaching buildings.
The new dormitory was south of Jiang Jing's former dormitory. The Spirit Studies dormitory was also called the New Dormitory, and they were in Building Two of the New Dormitory.
The moment they entered Building Two, they could feel that it was completely different from the other dormitories, as though they had stepped into a hotel lobby. There was no reception desk, but there were sofas and chairs in the lobby, along with vending machines and water dispensers.
There was even a café, where several people were already sitting leisurely and drinking coffee.
Liu Bin widened his eyes and exclaimed, "Damn, Brother Jing, life in Spirit Studies is pretty good. I'm already looking forward to it, and we haven't even entered the dorm yet."
"I heard that the Spirit Studies dorms are all single rooms. Each dorm is like a suite that can house four people, with each person having their own room. And most importantly, there's air conditioning." By the time he said that, he could no longer contain his excitement.
Jiang Jing pointed ahead. "Huh, there's even an elevator. Spirit Studies and the other programs really are two completely different worlds."
The two entered the elevator and pressed the button for the third floor. Class 9's dormitories were all on the third floor.
When the elevator arrived and its doors opened, they saw a wallpaper-covered corridor. The floor was laid with white tiles, making it look clean and bright, just like a hotel.
The two walked down the corridor, and the third room they came to was their dorm—303.
They took out the key cards issued by the school. This was another thing better than the other dorms: they could simply swipe their cards to enter.
The first thing they saw upon entering was the sofa and television in the room, followed by a shoe cabinet.
Liu Bin cried out, "Holy crap, this is way too luxurious! It even has a TV and a sofa."
After saying that, he ran inside and looked around everywhere. Jiang Jing, who was behind him, set down the suitcase and bedding before beginning to inspect the place as well.
The entire suite consisted of one living room, four individual rooms, and one bathroom.
The air conditioner and washing machine were all provided. There was also a fairly large balcony, from which they could clearly see the students walking below.
They casually checked out one of the individual rooms. It contained a large bed, a desk, and a wardrobe—that was all, but the space was quite large too. Jiang Jing nodded, very satisfied.
Liu Bin called out from outside, "Brother Jing, let's hurry up and pick the best rooms first."
Then he chose a room near the balcony. From his window, he could see the students on the street outside, which suited his gossip-loving nature quite well.
Jiang Jing chose the room opposite Liu Bin's. It also had a windowsill and better lighting, while the other two rooms were somewhat darker. After settling on their rooms,
the two began cleaning. It was obvious that while the dormitory had been cleaned before, no one had lived there for two months, and quite a bit of dust had accumulated.
Half an hour later, the door suddenly opened, and a thin boy wearing glasses walked in. His features were somewhat delicate.
Upon seeing Jiang Jing and Liu Bin cleaning inside, he smiled and greeted them. "Hello, brothers. My name is Sun Le. I was previously in Class 2. We'll be roommates from now on."
Liu Bin said, "I'm Liu Bin, and this is my Brother Jing, Jiang Jing. I think I know who you are. I've seen you among the top twenty students in our grade."
"Oh, right. Go choose a room quickly. If you wait any longer, there won't be any left to choose from."
Sun Le nodded, then carried his luggage into a room near the corridor.
When he came out, he was holding a rag. "I'll help clean up too."
Another hour passed. By the time they had mostly finished cleaning, their last roommate finally arrived late.
