The upcoming fashion showcase gave Qin Yi a perfect opportunity to prove himself.
After spending more than twenty years as a wastrel in his previous life, with nothing but spending money on his mind, Qin Yi naturally knew what clothes looked best and what things were the most fun. So, after spending two days sketching ten sets of fashionable clothing from after 2010, he smugly and arrogantly presented the newly released clothing designs from the era after his rebirth to Father Qin—only to suffer a blow.
"What kind of mess is all this?" Qin Zhenguo studied them for ages but still could not figure out what they were.
"Isn't Dad attending a fashion showcase? I carefully designed several outfits. What do you think? Pretty good, right?" Qin Yi practically strutted with pride.
"Would anyone wear this stuff?" Qin Dingguo eyed the gaudy clothes on the sketches skeptically, unable to agree. "Look at these pants. The waist is so low you can practically see someone's butt. And this shirt—why is the waist so tight? Would it even be comfortable? And this one is pink! It isn't even women's clothing..."
"Dad, it's fashion, fashion! If you don't understand, stop nagging. Why not get someone from your company who understands fashion to take a look?" Qin Yi rolled his eyes helplessly. There really was a generation gap!
"It'd be useless even if I did. This kind of thing..." Qin Zhenguo muttered. Still, remembering that his youngest son had stayed up late working on these, he felt a little sorry for him. He picked up the phone and dialed a number. "This is Qin Zhenguo. Send the best designers in the group to my office."
Fifteen minutes later, two middle-aged men in suits knocked and entered. "President Qin!"
"Take a look at these drawings. What do you think?" Qin Zhenguo tapped his desk as he spoke.
"..." The two designers picked up the sketches from the desk in confusion. A moment later, their eyes began to sparkle. "President Qin, which master did you hire to create these designs?"
"Could it be Versace? I can see his style in these designs." The other designer chimed in.
"How could that be..."
"Ahem. My youngest son doodled these on a whim and insisted that I find professionals to look at them." Qin Zhenguo explained somewhat awkwardly. "Give him some pointers."
"???"
"!!!"
"Young Master, did you personally design these outfits?" The chief designer with glasses nervously pushed up the pair perched on his nose and asked in a trembling voice.
"I just drew them casually. Take a look, and if they're usable, go ahead and use them!" Qin Yi waved a hand as if he did not care, secretly watching the designers' stunned and excited expressions as he laughed wildly inside.
"No, no, this is genius-level creativity. Genius-level creativity..." The designer became even more excited.
Seeing that even the designer's hands were trembling, Qin Yi was very satisfied. He silently mocked, What genius-level creativity? In a few days, I'll draw you some fashion designs from luxury-brand runway shows and scare you to death!
Thinking that, the slightly smug Qin Yi shot Qin Zhenguo a triumphant glance, then held his head high and walked over to the sofa, where he sat cross-legged.
"They're really that good?" Qin Zhenguo raised his brows skeptically. "Don't say that just because he's my son. He's a child! He needs to understand the facts and know his own limits!"
"No, no, President Qin. We are not trying to flatter you. Young Master's designs are absolutely groundbreaking. I dare say that even if these designs were taken international, they would still be groundbreaking." The taller designer was so excited that he repeated "groundbreaking" several times.
"Dad, do you believe it now? Your son is a fashion genius!" Qin Yi grew even prouder.
"Then, in your opinion, would it work to present these designs at this fashion showcase?" Qin Zhenguo asked tentatively.
"Of course. We will definitely shine brilliantly at this showcase." The two designers answered in unison.
"Hmph, hmph!" Qin Yi wrinkled his little nose.
"Fine. Turn these designs into actual products as soon as possible. The showcase is in half a month, so it'll depend on you." As Qin Zhenguo spoke, he handed the sketches to the two designers. "Everyone, work hard during this period. Once the showcase ends, I'll give everyone an immediate raise."
"Boss, you're amazing." The two designers spoke in unison again. Then they gathered the design sketches from the desk and left the office.
"Son, how about I treat you to lunch?" After everyone left, Qin Zhenguo could not help excitedly scooping Qin Yi up from the sofa. He kissed him hard, then carried him around the room in circle after circle.
"Put me down, put me down! I'm grown up now, you can't do this!" Qin Yi cried helplessly as he flew through the air.
Half an hour later, Qin Zhenguo reluctantly had to send Qin Yi out of the office alone because a very important client had suddenly arrived.
Ignoring the company employees' awestruck looks of worship and admiration, Qin Yi held up his little face at a forty-five-degree angle and walked out of the office building with a bright yet melancholy air, ignoring the countless eyeballs that had dropped behind him.
Unlike remote and backward S City, J City, the capital, was bustling and lively. Walking through the crowded, busy streets, Qin Yi narrowed his eyes and enjoyed the atmosphere of prosperity. He wandered aimlessly into a café on a street corner, ordered himself a cappuccino with the flair of a refined young man, then quietly sat before the floor-to-ceiling window and peacefully watched the packed crowd outside.
The brilliant afternoon sunlight poured recklessly over the earth, coloring the scenery outside in vivid hues. The coffee tasted rich, fragrant, and sweet, and a sense of happiness rose within him.
Qin Yi stretched lazily. Before he could sigh over his comfort, an unfamiliar yet extremely polite voice sounded beside him—
"Do you mind if I sit here?"
Qin Yi lazily raised his eyes to examine the man before him. He wore a perfectly fitted, expensive suit, and his hair was trimmed cleanly and neatly. An efficient, capable aura washed over him.
Qin Yi raised a brow with interest and gestured toward the empty seat opposite him with his chin. The man naturally sat down across from him.
"Allow me to introduce myself first. I am a top agent from Universal International. My name is Li Xuanming. You can call me Seven."
"Seventh Brother?" Qin Yi's tone rose slightly.
"..." Li Xuanming smiled silently, then said to Qin Yi, "Then call me Xuanming!"
"Whatever." Qin Yi curled his lips noncommittally. "What do you want?"
"Perhaps Young Master Qin is not aware, but your 'Invisible Wings' is currently the most popular song in the music scene." Li Xuanming spoke as he watched Qin Yi prop himself up with one arm and stare listlessly out the window.
"So what?" Qin Yi shot Li Xuanming an indifferent sideways glance.
"With Young Master Qin's talent, it would be such a pity not to develop it." Li Xuanming looked regretful.
"I'm not interested in being an entertainer." Qin Yi's answer was exceedingly blunt, even somewhat embarrassing for the other party.
That topic made Qin Yi a little angry. After those songs had been released, he had been excited for a while, thinking it was wonderful that he could help Andre gather Faith Power. But after a while, Andre had actually said that the power was too mixed, and that many emotions were tainted with some very bad things. Andre had also said that the people of Earth were far too mentally weak. Most of their emotions completely dissipated into the air before Andre could transform them. Such worship could not be converted into Faith Power at all, much less the divine power Andre needed.
However, Li Xuanming, who had dealt with many children of prestigious families, merely smiled unconcernedly.
To people like them, that sort of work truly was not much of a pastime.
Still, even if it was not much of a pastime, it was good for making money.
"Is Young Master Qin interested in the entertainment industry?" Li Xuanming asked calmly.
"More or less." Qin Yi smacked his lips.
"Then please take a look at this, Young Master Qin." Li Xuanming took a contract from his bag and pushed it in front of Qin Yi.
Somewhat curious, Qin Yi picked up the contract and glanced over it. When he saw its contents, he frowned in confusion. "What does this mean?"
"If Young Master Qin is interested, signing this contract will grant you ten percent of Universal International's shares." Li Xuanming nodded slightly and replied with perfect courtesy.
"Are you sick?" Qin Yi leaned back against the sofa with an amused look. His thinking was simple. Who would voluntarily give you money for no reason? Unless they were sick.
"This contract was issued only after a decision by the board of directors, so Young Master Qin need not worry about its legal validity." Although Qin Yi's words were somewhat crude, Li Xuanming maintained a radiant smile and responded in a gentle, cultured manner. His every glance and expression radiated humility, as though Qin Yi were merely a child throwing an unreasonable tantrum.
Qin Yi hated expressions like that the most. They made him feel as if he were worthless. But with what little cultivation he still possessed, he decided to ignore Li Xuanming's smile.
"Someone actually agreed to this contract of yours?" Qin Yi could not help adding. It truly was unbelievable. It only stated that after signing, he would receive ten percent of Universal International's shares, while the obligations were extremely few.
It merely required that anything Qin Yi wrote related to entertainment had to go through Universal Productions. It did not even require him to produce a work within any particular period of time. In other words, once Qin Yi signed the contract, Universal International would still give him ten percent of its shares even if he did nothing at all.
Having something like a pie falling from the sky land on one's head seemed lucky. But factoring in gravitational acceleration and all that, it could kill someone too, right?
Qin Yi felt bewildered. He truly did not know what the person across from him meant. So he subconsciously looked to the side, only realizing today that he had come out alone when he saw that there was no one beside him.
His mood suddenly sank. He was somewhat lost, but Qin Yi did not make a hasty decision. He casually pushed the contract back to Li Xuanming and said with a carefree smile, "Forget it. I'm not really interested."
Then he stood up without further discussion, walked past the somewhat stunned Li Xuanming, and left the café. As he passed the counter, he did not forget to settle his own bill.
Inside the café, Li Xuanming looked through the floor-to-ceiling glass window at Qin Yi's relaxed figure on the street and revealed an interested smile.
Perhaps this was a rather special young master...
His elegant leisure time, stolen from the bustle of life, had been ruined by someone. Qin Yi returned home somewhat regretfully. Yet his expression remained so relaxed and loose that his family did not notice anything. Of course, no one knew that this spendthrift had just rejected such an astonishing opportunity on a whim.
Qin Yi lazily entered the room. Qin Rong was still sitting cross-legged in the corner, diligently cultivating. With nothing to do, Qin Yi took off his coat and flopped onto the bed. Andre, unwilling to be lonely inside the space, came over to strike up a conversation.
"Qin Yi, interested in taking a stroll?"
His meaning of "taking a stroll" had always been extremely broad. In our terms, it meant—
Qin Yi, interested in transmigrating somewhere?
Hearing Andre ask that, Qin Yi subconsciously glanced at Qin Rong, who was studying hard in the corner. After hesitating for a moment, he said, "How about we wait until my brother wakes up?"
