St. Mungo's Hospital was no less bustling than Diagon Alley.
The injuries people suffered here were all incredibly bizarre.
Darren even saw a wizard with antlers on his head come in and ask whether he would die if he cut them off directly.
Someone else was running through the halls while twisting his waist exaggeratedly.
"God, make me stop! I'm going to die from exhaustion, I really am!"
Hiss!
Who knew what kind of magic he had been hit with? How miserable...
[Ding! A situation in which the Paternal System was in action has been detected near the host. A temporary mission is now being issued: Eavesdrop on the conversation between Mrs. Longbottom and the doctor. Then go to the hospital payment counter and deposit the thirty thousand Galleons Becky gave you into Mr. and Mrs. Longbottom's account. Then say: "I am merely an unknown ordinary person. Please do not publicize my appearance. Thank you."] [Ding! Upon completing the mission, you will receive Voldemort's bloodline (on the night Voldemort tortured Lily, some of his bloodline was silently lost). Would the host like to accept?]
What?
Thirty thousand Galleons was not something he particularly cared about.
What truly astonished him was Voldemort's bloodline.
What did it mean, the night Lily was tortured?
He remembered Dumbledore saying that Lily had been captured and tortured by Death Eaters.
Why was Voldemort involved too?
And... his bloodline had been lost?
No, why could he not understand any of this?
Was this something Darren could see without paying?
[Accept!]
Though shocked, Darren quickly accepted the mission.
He looked around.
Neville's grandmother should be nearby.
"Neville, go talk to your father and mother."
Just as Darren was anxiously searching, he heard a familiar name.
He looked toward the voice.
Sure enough, he saw Neville and his grandmother.
Old Mrs. Longbottom was already very old.
Her face was covered in wrinkles, and the corners of her mouth drooped downward, making her look difficult to get along with.
She was telling Neville to go into the ward first while she stayed outside to speak with the doctor.
While Becky was looking for the healer's office, Darren quietly moved closer and began eavesdropping.
"Old Mrs. Longbottom, the medical expenses are insufficient again... Yes, yes, I know they did it for the Wizarding World... But the hospital is not a charity... All right, then please find a solution as soon as possible."
The doctor hurried away.
Mrs. Longbottom lowered her head and gave a loud sniffle, then quickly resumed her previous expression and walked calmly into the ward.
"Let's go. What are you looking at here?"
Becky grabbed Darren by the clothes and pulled him out of the corner where he had been eavesdropping.
Darren shook his head.
He was simply struck by the fact that even in the Wizarding World, people could not afford medical treatment.
Especially heroes from back then.
No wonder Neville's first wand had been his father's wand.
The official explanation was that he wanted to become someone like his father, but perhaps the family had simply been too poor.
Although the Longbottom family was one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight, only Neville's uncle Algie remained to support the household.
And he also had to support his two younger brothers and sisters-in-law living in St. Mungo's. Clearly, their expenses exceeded their income.
He was not in a hurry to donate to the Longbottom account right now, since Becky was with him.
This Slytherin girl was already suspicious by nature. If he donated in front of her, she might think he was putting on a show, and that would not be worth it.
Though he was putting on a show, it was still thirty thousand Galleons!
He did not want to be judged that way.
"We're here. This is the place. I arranged for Mr. Phiasco to examine you. Mr. Phiasco is also my cousin and a renowned healer at St. Mungo's!"
There was a hint of pride in Becky's tone.
Darren secretly rolled his eyes.
He followed Becky into Mr. Phiasco's office.
Only one patient remained inside. Upon seeing them enter, the patient hurriedly stood and left.
"Oh, noble Miss Greengrass, what a pleasure to have you here!"
When Phiasco saw Becky, he enthusiastically came forward, seemingly intending to hug her. Becky frowned and dodged aside.
"Phiasco, I hope you can behave yourself. There is an outsider here."
She pulled Darren out from behind her.
Darren smiled shyly at Phiasco.
"Oh? Which family's young master is this, for you to care about him so much, Becky?"
Phiasco lightly touched Darren with his wand as he teased Becky.
Becky snorted and replied, "None of your business," then turned her gaze to Darren.
"Hmm, aside from slight malnutrition, he is very healthy. Any further examination would require touching his magical core, and that would require this gentleman's consent."
Phiasco smiled and lowered his wand.
He knew Becky's personality. She would never spend time with any wizard who was not Pure-blood.
So this young gentleman must be some family's young master.
He did not dare casually touch the magical cores of these young aristocrats. They could sue him into bankruptcy over that.
"Are you sure?"
Becky raised her voice.
Phiasco ignored her.
How could his professional judgment be wrong?
"How could this be?"
Becky muttered with a frown.
However, she said nothing else. After bidding Phiasco farewell, she led Darren outside.
"Brat, as your future senior, I'll give you one piece of advice:
Don't tell anyone about what happened to you this time. Especially don't tell anyone you were hit by the Killing Curse. Forget all of it, understand?"
Other than Harry Potter, no one could survive after being hit by the Killing Curse.
Harry Potter had protected the Wizarding World, and Dumbledore had hidden him away, which was why he could remain safe and sound.
But this brat would not be so lucky.
If people learned what had happened to him, he might disappear from the Wizarding World by tomorrow.
"I'll go back and deal with that guy as soon as possible. Just don't let anything slip. If you lose your life then, it won't be my fault, hmph!"
Donating to the Longbottoms
Darren nodded perfunctorily. He truly had not expected Miss Becky to offer him advice.
Although every word she said was unpleasant, she genuinely meant well.
Even though he was not afraid at all.
Only after seeing that Darren understood did Becky breathe a sigh of relief.
Then she said arrogantly and disdainfully:
"Talking to you is so exhausting, you annoying little brat.
Hmph, don't fantasize about becoming friends with me again. The Greengrass family's friendship is not so easily earned!"
Becky's tone was thick with displeasure.
