In the Hospital Wing, Snape finally learned why Darren had ended up like this.
Before coming to school, the boy had been seriously injured while saving Nicolas Flamel. The Ministry of Magic had only given him basic treatment before sending him to school.
He should have been able to hold on until the feast ended before going to the Hospital Wing.
Who would have thought that, because he was worried about Harry Potter, his magic would suddenly go out of control?
He sat outside the Hospital Wing with his head in his hands.
His face was full of bitterness.
Lily!
If you knew your child had so kindly taken a bullet for someone else, what would you do?
He had inherited every one of your beautiful qualities. No one could bring themselves to blame him; all they felt was heartache.
This child made him afraid to even speak harshly to him.
Even after his magic went out of control, he was still worrying about others.
Sometimes, he even wished the child could be a little more selfish—perhaps more like Potter, a little more obnoxious.
Then he would not leave everyone on edge all day long.
When he heard Dumbledore's voice, Snape truly wanted to force a smile.
Even a mocking one.
But he could not smile at all.
The moment he thought of the brat's personality, his head hurt. Especially when he heard Dumbledore say that Darren was fine.
He had nearly died, and that counted as fine?
Come to think of it, he had to thank The Chosen One for being spotted somewhere. Otherwise, that foolish boy would probably have worried himself to death here, wouldn't he?
Snape thought angrily.
Then he heard Dumbledore tell him to be nicer to Harry Potter, even using Lily's eyes as an example.
