"What about Ecruteak City's Gym?"
After the cheers died down, someone in the crowd raised a question.
That was right. Wazik Leia of the Wazik Family had fled, so who would become the Gym Leader of Ecruteak City?
After all, one could not simply become a Gym Leader just because one wanted to. It required both a Pokémon Trainer's strength and public recognition.
The crowd instantly fell silent again. They looked at one another before finally turning their gazes toward Officer Jenny on the stage, waiting for her answer.
"Actually, there's no need for everyone to worry. I have someone to recommend."
"Who is Officer Jenny recommending?"
Roy nudged Morty beside him, signaling that it was his turn to step up.
Morty took a deep breath and walked out of the crowd. After looking at Roy and silently encouraging himself, he jogged over to Officer Jenny's side.
Officer Jenny nodded at Morty, quieting the crowd that was chattering about candidates for Ecruteak City's Gym Leader. She had Morty stand slightly in front of her while she took a step back.
Seeing Morty walk onto the stage, everyone wondered why he was standing together with Officer Jenny.
Could it be...?!
Officer Jenny quickly confirmed their suspicions and made a decision that no one had expected: she nominated Morty to become Ecruteak City's Gym Leader.
After hearing that the Wazik Family had been wiped out and that the city's various restrictions had been lifted, everyone had thought there was nothing left that could shock them.
But Officer Jenny was actually recommending Morty as the new Gym Leader. Was that really right?
"Morty as the Gym Leader? How old is he? And his main Pokémon are Ghost types. If he becomes Gym Leader, won't Ecruteak City's Gym become a Ghost-type Gym? I object."
