"Roy, this battle..." Nobuhiko knew that, strictly speaking, he had already lost under the competition rules. Hitmontop had taken too long to evolve.
But Roy didn't mind. A competition was one thing; this was just a private battle. If Nobuhiko still wanted Hitmontop to fight, that was fine with him.
Hitmontop nodded to Nobuhiko. He knew how this would end, but he wanted to keep fighting. Even if he lost, he wanted to lose on the battlefield.
"All right, Hitmontop, use Fire Punch!"
Flames wrapped around Hitmontop's legs and arms, and he spun toward Little Absol.
But no amount of fighting spirit or dazzling footwork could change the outcome.
Tyrogue had evolved into Hitmontop, but most of his moves still had no effect on Little Absol.
Little Absol took Hitmontop's Fire Punch head-on. Then Super Luck activated, and a Quick Attack struck Hitmontop's vital point. With little strength left, he collapsed and could no longer battle.
Hitmontop lay on the ground with spirals in his eyes, unable to fight.
Their battle ended with Hitmontop's defeat.
"Thanks for the effort, Tyro—Hitmontop. We'll keep working hard for next time!"
Losing both Pokémon battles to Roy didn't discourage Nobuhiko. If anything, it fired up his spirit as a Fighting-type Trainer.
Roy took a powerful Potion from his Spatial Bracelet and handed it to Nobuhiko. He suggested treating his Pokémon before trying again.
