After testing the field and finding nothing wrong with it, Roy did not end the Dynamax transformation right away. Instead, a sudden idea struck him, and he had Gigantamax Gengar use Max Guard. A shield almost as tall as Roy appeared in front of him.

"Pryce, have your Swinub try an attack. I want to see if my Gengar can block it."

Hearing Roy's request and seeing the energy shield, which was as large as a cavern, Pryce was curious whether it could withstand Swinub's attack.

"Swinub, use Blizzard."

At Pryce's command, Swinub whipped up a storm behind it, sweeping the snow from the ice cavern toward the enormous energy shield.

Caught in the storm, the snow that would ordinarily have done little harm became a flurry of blades. They struck the shield with a clatter like metal hitting metal.

Swinub's Blizzard battered the enormous energy shield until it began to fade. By the end, Roy could barely make out the shield at all.

The shield vanished, and the remaining Blizzard struck Gigantamax Gengar with considerable force. Fortunately, it did not knock Gengar out of its Dynamax form.

Gigantamax Gengar's Max Guard had not completely blocked Swinub's Blizzard, but it had absorbed at least seventy percent of its power.

According to Pryce, watching from outside the field, that was already impressive. Many Pokémon at the Intermediate King level could not withstand even half of one of Swinub's Blizzards.

"Pryce, this Swinub of yours..."

Roy was curious how Swinub could be so strong without reaching its final evolution. After all, the manga's premise was that there were no weak Pokémon, only inadequate trainers.

But this was reality. Swinub's base stats were pitifully low. By all rights, it should have been impossible for it to reach High-level Elite Four strength.
