Hearing the old man show off the big fish he had caught that afternoon yet again, the old woman and Clair, who had finished eating and were watching television, looked thoroughly unimpressed. They had heard him brag about it so many times that their ears were practically growing calluses.
Only Roy, still at the table, kept wolfing down his food while praising both the old man's fishing skills and his cooking.
Roy's praise made the old man smile so broadly that the wrinkles on his face nearly smoothed out.
After dinner, the old man casually picked up the newspaper. Something in it caught his eye, and he said:
"The Pokémon League discovered another ancient ruin. There's even some kind of Go... lurk."
"Golurk?"
Hearing that name, Roy put down his bowl and walked over to the old man.
The old man handed Roy the newspaper. Its headline read: "Shocking! Super-ancient ruins discovered southwest of Violet City!!!"
The article beneath it read: Researchers estimated that these ruins had existed for 1,500 years. A giant figure had also been discovered inside, suspected to be a Golurk created by ancient people.
A blurry photograph accompanied the end of the article. There was a hand in its upper-left corner, apparently trying to stop the photographer from taking the picture.
Roy leaned closer to examine the photograph. After studying it, he confirmed that the Pokémon lying in the picture was indeed a Golurk. This was the first time he had heard any news about one.
The first Mega Stone he had obtained in Meteor Cave had been a Golurk Mega Stone, but even now, he had only ever seen Golurk in pictures.
At last, he had a solid lead.
