The Great Pirates' Ambush

Though he had fallen on hard times, he had still regained two First-Order Undead Servants recently, and if he wished, he could advance to a Formal Necromancer in a short time.

If necessary, he would lead tens of thousands of cannon-fodder undead troops in a relentless pursuit of you.

And by the way, his so-called cannon-fodder undead troops could easily crush an equal number of kingdom soldiers.

Forget surviving a Necromancer's pursuit—even pirates with just the first two abilities would never set their sights on a single ship. With abilities like that, where could they not get ships? Where could they not get money?

Yang Mu led the crew onto Shipwreck Island for the first time. They were all somewhat curious, and Yang Mu was just about to tell them to split up and have some fun.

A group of pirates emerged from all around and encircled Yang Mu and the others. Yang Mu glanced at them and realized he did not know them. With his memory, anyone he had met before would be impossible to forget.

"You're courting death!"

Jack and Higgs roared. One drew the curved blade at his waist, red light flaring from his body as he charged out. When he saw someone raise a gun again, two Bone Shields floated around him, blocking the incoming shots.

In just a few strides, he reached the pirates bold enough to attack them. His blade whirled, instantly carving through great swaths of flesh and blood. Several pirates before him fell amid screams.

Higgs transformed directly into a Fishman. He did not even need a weapon. With a dive, he arrived before one man, swung his arm, and blew the man's head apart.

He completely ignored the lead bullets fired from all around. Weapons of that power could not penetrate his scales alone.

The remaining crew members of the Undead also drew their curved blades and charged at the pirates who had dared attack them.

"Fuck, they're the Undead Pirate Crew! That one is Crimson Ghost Lord Jack? He's so strong. And this is without him bringing those Walking Corpses—this is purely his own ability."

"No, judging by their individual strength, Fishman Higgs is clearly stronger. His ability feels a lot like Sea Monster Abel's. Look, even their flintlocks can't break through his scales."

"Who are these people? Why haven't I heard of them? How did they suddenly start fighting?"

"Heh, where did you crawl out from? The biggest news these past two days was that the Undead Pirate Crew killed Barrel and turned all of Pirate Island upside down. Especially that Crimson Ghost Lord Jack—they say he commands hundreds of Walking Corpses and skeletons. They aren't afraid of death, and they're incredibly strong. Terrifying."

A crowd of onlookers discussed the matter animatedly. Clearly, Yang Mu and the others' reputation had already spread. Since Barrel had been able to occupy an island and build it up, he was naturally no nobody.

Higgs was the same. The word Fishman alone was enough to explain his ability. Still in the learning stage, he had not yet displayed abilities like Jack's.

As for Yang Mu, he had no nickname for now. In outsiders' eyes, this Captain was extremely mysterious. Almost no one had seen him fight, or everyone who had seen him fight was already dead.

"I heard someone put a bounty on the heads of the Undead Pirate Crew's members. The bounty only reached Pirate Island today, and they immediately made their move."

"The Fishman and Crimson Ghost Lord may not be able to handle them, but the Undead Pirate Crew still has that mysterious Captain. Didn't you see it just now? The bullets were blocked by something transparent as soon as they approached him. They were completely useless. I think if this Captain acts, Mad Beast and the others might not necessarily win."

The people around them continued discussing and guessing who would win. On one side were three famed great pirates; on the other was the newly risen Undead Pirate Crew, which also possessed strength capable of rivaling great pirates.

Meanwhile, the several black-robed men who had originally followed Jack now threw back their robes, revealing armor covering their bodies and iron swords a palm wide in their hands.

Jack was no fool. After suffering a loss once, how could he make the same mistake a second time?

He did not have his Captain's ability to modify powerful Undead Servants. The Basic Undead Modification Template his Captain had given him, along with the half-meter-high prerequisite occult knowledge, already gave him a headache.

He could not even think about mastering it in the short term. He could not even finish reading the table of contents.

So while everyone else was having fun on Pirate Island, he had gone to find several sets of armor and weapons and equipped his strongest Walking Corpses with them. With his spiritual power having reached the peak of a Low-Level Apprentice, finely controlling six Walking Corpses was not a problem.
