Background

Yang Ling was a professional gamer before becoming trapped in the game-like Divine Realm, unable to log out. He nearly starved after arriving, then was captured and forced to work as a miner at the Fire Crystal Ore Mine outside Green Mountain City. Mining becomes his route to survival after he discovers that each strike can yield experience, relieve fatigue, and improve his attributes. 1

He initially keeps his player identity and ability to view status panels secret. After learning that the people transported into Divine Realm arrived physically and that death there is genuine, he adopts survival as his foremost priority. 3 7

His early mining success attracts hostility from Fifth Brother and suspicion from mine authorities, but it also earns him Supervisor Wu's notice and introduces him to Zhao Hou, Steward Niu, and Xu Qing. He purchases a mine-cave map, takes dangerous expeditions underground, and discovers Zhang Hao's hidden Vajra Wisdom King Art. 4 6 13

By mastering cultivation and surviving Wu Que's attempt to frame him as a mine-thief leader, Yang Ling gains enough experience to become a Constable of Green Mountain City's Iron Garment Division. Personality

Yang Ling is intensely pragmatic and secretive. He avoids unnecessary risks, hides his cultivation gains, and treats information about Divine Realm's systems as a personal advantage. He is willing to negotiate when useful, but he refuses to tolerate threats to his livelihood or survival. 1 6 9

His defining trait is relentless discipline. He mines, cultivates, and practices martial arts for nearly all available hours, even using the Vajra Wisdom King Art to restore himself instead of sleeping. He sees Spirit as the key to compounding future growth and consistently invests free points into it once he understands its value. 16 22 23 30

Despite his caution, he repeatedly assists people he considers worth helping. He gives Chen Xu's group money and advice, teaches Chen Xu and Chen Guoqing about the status panel and mining, and leads miners through dangerous Red Gold Ore operations.
