The lingering chill of early morning hung in the air. Soft sunlight filtered through the curtains, bringing the room to just the right temperature, while the faint sound of wind brushing past the windowsill could still be heard.
Gerald suddenly sat upright.
"Darling?" Startled by her lover's unusual behavior, Lamaline hurried to his side and checked on him. "Are you all right? Are you hurt? Did you have a nightmare?"
Pegasus's consciousness had not fully recovered yet. The mental damage caused by the pain still lingered in his mind, so Lamaline could more clearly feel the person before her trembling.
"I'm fine. It's nothing." Gerald quickly pulled his attention back, gently embracing the body before him and resting his head against his lover's shoulder with a sigh. "It was more like... a beautiful dream with a bad ending. The contrast was a little hard to take."
Now he understood where the missing proportion of time had gone after Banshee's Kiss was activated.
A Punishment Worse Than Death
Pegasus was very concerned about the Bloodfiend's education.
He did not think that fighting for a few hours would somehow raise his skills to an unbelievable level. After all, the Bloodfiend Lord's combat abilities were almost entirely dependent on his sorcery. What could truly benefit from this was his reactions, instincts, and senses; his fighting technique itself was barely worth mentioning.
But if this continued, he would soon be facing a move-repeating robot.
Lamaline's recent performances had been excellent. Once the Banshee Lord realized that her lover could Sever Incantation with his swordsmanship, the situation had instantly shifted from overwhelming, large-scale assaults into an assassin-like style of combat. Counters and feints emerged one after another. Nearly every exchange brought new ideas and new restrictions on his swordsmanship, forcing the battle toward the direction
