Background / History

Lamaline was born to the Banshees and was ninety-six winters old during Gerald's early visits to River Valley. Her first departure from the flock occurred during a three-nation siege, where she endured warfare, cooperated with races hostile to the Banshees, and helped resist the invasion beyond Kazdel. The Banshees came to regard her with exceptional respect for carrying the burden of her people through that period. 14 18

She became one of the Sarkaz's Six Heroes, later led the Banshee Court, and was formerly the master of the Death Knell Court. By the time of her reunion with Gerald on Rhodes Island, she is identified as a former Demon King. 14 71 74

Following the war, Lamaline sheltered the surviving Banshees in River Valley. With the race nearing extinction and only a small group of young Banshees remaining, she asked Gerald to help preserve the Banshee bloodline and rebuild Kazdel. In exchange for his acceptance, she gave him the sacred Banshee Kiss. 15

Appearance

Lamaline is a graceful Banshee with long hair, crimson eyes, and a dark veil that traditionally conceals part of her face. Her bearing shifts between the formal authority of a Royal Court ruler and a noticeably gentler, more ordinary demeanor around Gerald. 14 15 34

Personality

Lamaline considers leadership a responsibility rather than a privilege. She believes the Banshee Queen must be both an unshakable example and someone the younger Banshees can depend on, even while recognizing that River Valley's survivors need time to recover from war. 15 19

Although she initially presents herself with cultivated calm and authority, Lamaline has little experience with ordinary social intimacy. She can become flustered, vulnerable, and unable to voice what she wants directly—particularly when Gerald prepares to leave River Valley. 14 32 34
