Background / History
Bai Yu became the Monster Leader after the previous leader was eliminated and its power passed to him. This succession was unusual: the role normally went to a trusted subordinate, while Bai Yu had been an ordinary student before being transported into this world. He spent roughly half a year studying magic circles and another half-year searching for and learning Forbidden Magic. 4 18
When Meng Yue attacked the organization, Bai Yu stalled her long enough to activate a prearranged binding array, then used Forbidden Magic on her. Believing her apparent memory loss and trust to be genuine, he convinced her that she was his “Slave Soldier” and took her to the organization’s true headquarters to remake her as a monster executive. In reality, Meng Yue had retained her memories and was exploiting his assumption to infiltrate the organization. 1 2
Meng Yue’s captured wand and apparent conversion persuaded previously disloyal executives to accept Bai Yu’s leadership. He subsequently shifted the organization away from the previous leader’s indiscriminate public attacks, favoring targeted operations that generated more negative energy while avoiding the public confidence inspired by Meng Yue’s reputation. 3 23 24
Bai Yu captured and interrogated a Papi clone, learning key information about the Magical Girls in Starry Sky City and the Beast Cores inside their Magic Cores. He later cultivated Xinghua into an organization combatant, used Contract Lock to restrain Meng Yue after her Beastification, and repeatedly targeted powerful Magical Girls such as Judgment, Crimson Blade, and Tyrant through deception, psychological magic, and prepared arrays. 15 38 42 83 100
Appearance
Bai Yu normally appears as a black-haired youth with two sheep-like demon horns. Without the horns, Meng Yue initially considered him physically unremarkable and no different from an ordinary person. 1
- Black hair and a youthful build. 1 28
- Two demon horns resembling sheep horns. 1
- Dark-element magical attribute. 28
- Can alter his appearance into human disguises, including an unremarkable man and an imitation of Divine Will. 18 100
Personality
Bai Yu is calculating, suspicious, and highly manipulative. He does not trust intelligence from a single source, personally verifies Papi’s information, and routinely exploits emotional vulnerabilities to recruit, control, or destabilize Magical Girls. 18 67 83
His cruelty is paired with pragmatism rather than indiscriminate violence. He considers broad destruction inefficient for collecting negative energy, instead targeting criminals and manipulating public perception to weaken support for Magical Girls. 5 23 24 41
Despite his confidence, Bai Yu is acutely conscious of his own survivability. His true body is physically vulnerable if its Magic Core is destroyed, so he habitually uses clones in dangerous encounters and only became more willing to fight personally after Contract Lock gained damage-transfer properties. 18 54 89
Outside combat, he has an interest in novels, comics, anime, and wooden swords. He used this shared interest to build trust with Crimson Blade under a false identity. 55 73
Abilities & Skills
Magic Circle Creation
Bai Yu’s primary combat specialty is creating, storing, and activating magic circles. His low raw magical reserves do not prevent him from challenging stronger opponents because he prepares formations in advance. 1 18 88
- Uses prearranged circles for binding, suppression, explosions, barriers, and teleportation. 1 15 91
- Has placed teleportation circles throughout secluded areas of Starry Sky City; normal teleportation requires a circle prepared at the destination. 18
- Can alter complex magical formations, including a city defense barrier designed to eliminate weak magical creatures. 97
- His real body activates stored circles in less than half a second, noticeably faster than a remotely controlled clone. 91
- Uses a crystal pen to inscribe and modify formations. 97 105
Forbidden Magic and Mental Manipulation
Bai Yu has access to Forbidden Magic through the Monster Leader’s study and Leader’s Library. He uses it to induce regression, alter perceptions, and exploit a target’s emotional state. 3 83 104
- Child Regression — caused Meng Yue’s apparent memory loss and infantile trust, allowing Bai Yu to initially define her identity as his Slave Soldier. 1
- Common-Sense Confusion — a spell Bai Yu developed to distort a target’s interpretation of events and sensations. 104
- A Heart Full of Bai Yu — intended to create attachment, but produced Judgment’s obsessive desire to defeat and raise Bai Yu instead, demonstrating that Forbidden Magic can yield unpredictable results. 83
- Interrogation Chamber — isolates captives from outside communication and suppresses their magic; its upgraded version can immediately restore a broken mind. 15 32
Contract Lock
Bai Yu’s unique Leader Skill manifests as a collar and chains linking him to contracted familiars. 38
- Prevented Beastified Meng Yue from attacking him while she was controlled by killing instincts. 38
- Connects Bai Yu to Meng Yue and Ling Li through magical collars and chains. 88
- After Bai Yu reached the Second Tier, contracted familiars gained the ability to bear damage suffered by him, including damage to his Magic Core. 89
- Requires Bai Yu’s real body for unrestricted activation, making it a major reason for him to take greater personal risks in battle. 89
Split-Body Magic
Bai Yu learned Split-Body Magic from a scroll in the library, enabling him to create disposable doubles. 18
- A clone is produced by severing one of his limbs; Bai Yu’s original limb rapidly regenerates afterward. 18
- The clone has no Magic Core and possesses roughly one-third of Bai Yu’s magical power. 18
- Destroyed clones disperse into magical particles and return to the main body. 18
- Bai Yu uses clones as his usual frontline presence because his true body can die if its Magic Core is destroyed. 18 54
Magic Core Perception
As Monster Leader, Bai Yu can see Magical Girls’ Magic Cores, their locations, contamination, magical characteristics, and internal energy flow. 7 26
- Detected the purple contamination spreading through Meng Yue’s Magic Core. 7
- Identifies Beast Core traits and assesses the likelihood of a Magical Girl’s corruption. 15 26
- Uses observed energy flow to identify exploitable combat limitations, such as Xinghua’s brief vulnerability after Phasing. 26
- Monitored Judgment and Crimson Blade’s abnormal Magic Core mutations. 68 79 91
Transformation, Mobility, and Regeneration
Bai Yu can disguise himself as humans and travel quickly through prepared magic or allied magical beasts. 6 18 57
- Changes into human identities to infiltrate and investigate Magical Girls. 18
- Uses invisibility and aura manipulation to misdirect opponents in combat. 100
- Can rapidly regenerate physical injuries, though destruction of his Magic Core remains fatal. 18
- Can shift the position of his Magic Core within his body. 105
- Has used an Evil-Eyed Void Fox for rapid spatial transfer without relying on a teleportation array. 57
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Monster Leader’s magic book — grants access to Forbidden Magic; additional contents appeared after Bai Yu used its first recorded spell on a Magical Girl. 3
- Leader’s Library — contains magical texts, blank resonance-based books, spell scrolls, and research material; Bai Yu found Split-Body Magic there. 18
- Crystal pen — used to draw, modify, and dismantle complex magical formations. 97 105
- Dark-gold skull staff — used to cast the large-scale attack Doomsday Abyss against the purple-haired Magical Girl. 54
- Evil Eye Camera — a surveillance device Bai Yu used to record and analyze Magical Girl Tyrant’s magical barrier. 94
Relationships
- Meng Yue / Liu Liu — Initially Bai Yu’s strongest enemy and intended monster executive. He exploited her apparent regression, later restrained her through Contract Lock after her Beastification, and treats her as an exclusive subordinate. 1 32 38
- Xinghua / Ling Li — A captured Magical Girl whom Bai Yu studied, manipulated, and trained around her desire for revenge. She ultimately joined the Monster Organization as a combatant. 41 42
- Crimson Blade / Ling Nai — A powerful adversary Bai Yu seeks to understand and corrupt rather than kill. He also deceived her under a civilian identity, using their shared interest in wooden swords and anime to gain her trust. 67 73 78
- Judgment — Initially a dangerous opponent who nearly made Bai Yu dependent on her. Bai Yu captured her, erased much of her memory, lowered her intelligence, and decided to keep her as his “daughter.” 83 84
- Papi — Hostile Contract Spirit whose clone Bai Yu imprisoned and interrogated for information about Magical Girls and Beast Cores. 15
- Black Bear Executive / Old Black — A loyal Monster Organization executive who supported Bai Yu after rumors of the leader’s death and continued serving under him. 2 63
- Tyrant — A powerful Magical Girl Bai Yu analyzes as a research target and enemy. He identified her day-night weakness and used Forbidden Magic to exploit her arrogance. 93 100 102 105
Story Role / Major Arcs
Meng Yue’s Capture
Bai Yu survives Meng Yue’s assault by trapping her with a binding array and using Forbidden Magic. He takes her to the true headquarters, claims her wand, and uses her apparent conversion to secure the loyalty of skeptical executives. 1 2 3
Reforming the Monster Organization
Rather than repeat the previous leader’s open destruction, Bai Yu organizes targeted operations for negative energy collection. His policy is shaped by the realization that Meng Yue’s public image suppresses fear and despair during overt monster attacks. 23 24
Papi Interrogation and Xinghua’s Recruitment
Bai Yu captures a Papi clone, extracts intelligence on Magical Girls and Beast Cores, and seals the clone away. He later guides Xinghua’s revenge and Beast Power development until she joins the organization. 15 41 42
Judgment’s Defeat
After learning that Judgment intended to make him helpless and dependent on her, Bai Yu prepares countermeasures and exploits her feelings to capture her. He then uses layered mental magic to regress her into a childlike state. 79 83 84
Increased Personal Combat
The special Magic Cores taken from Blue Star Knights raise Bai Yu to the Second Tier and strengthen Contract Lock. Once his contracted familiars can bear his damage, he becomes more willing to deploy his true body and cast magic at its full speed. 88 89 91
Moonstar City Operations
Bai Yu investigates Tyrant’s unusual barrier and day-night power pattern, manipulates her into wasting magic power, and coordinates Meng Yue and Ling Li against Divine Will. His actions further undermine the standing and cohesion of the Magical Girls opposing the Monster Organization. 94 100 105 106
